Cornpone Sally was formed late in 2006, for no good reason. It was
probably just one of those strange things that happen during a long,
dark Pennsylvania winter, like finding a frozen field mouse in your
glove compartment. Whatever the cause, the effect is that Terralyn
Austin, Liz Berkowitz, Tom Oswald and Greg Smith make crackling good
music together. Like the trajectory of a pickup truck on icy country
roads, their repertoire varies wildly. You never quite know what
they’re going to pull out of their, um, songbook next, but can always count on a hot
batch of tasty swing numbers and harmonies you could eat with a spoon.
They perform a variety of original compositions as well as imaginative
renditions of tunes you may already know. Cornpone Sally invites you to
pull up to their musical smorgasbord. And come hungry.
Fun show Saturday! I knew you guys would be a great fit for us. (And wasn't the Red Molly quote cool?) I'll keep in touch if I get something set up at Ten West.
I hear the Brew thing worked out... glad to hear that. (I've been pretty successful at getting people to listen when I say an opener is a really good fit for us. ) See ya at Hickory Fest? -Jim
You guys sounded great tonight!! I really liked the Indigo Girl song that was before the Sarah McLaughlin ice cream song...it had a lot of energy and good harmony:)
You guys ROCK! I'm very impressed with your choice of tunes and the mojo you've got on swing is awesome! Having Greg there to fill out the bottom end made it even better. I'm glad to help you out any way I can, but by the sounds of things I'll just lend you equipment and get out of your way!
hey! lemme know if you guys ever come around philly--new hope (john and peters maybe?) might be a good place. also, peddler's village (in lahaska, pa--they have outdoor fests and a music shop). my friends folk by association--on my top 8-might have some advice on where's good1
