In the starting days of 1998, Mehmet Kin’s (guitars) close friend Kadir Iltan(vocals) accepted invitation of Mehmet Kin’s desire of forming a new band. After working together for some months they chose thrash metal to play. After writing and playing some songs they went into melodic death metal as they liked most
The band solved its bass guitarist needs by adding Cem who is their friend from school. They started to practice in studios to see what they could do together, but because of not having a permanent drummer, the band was having problems about harmony.
In the middle of summer they moved into practicing in a home-studio designed place. They recorded few songs and made their friends to listen them. After hearing nice compliments about what they had done, the band recorded their first song called `Winter Sun` as a demo.
After having some problems in the winter, Mehmet and Kadir gave a break for the band and made bassist and drummer leave the band. But they reformed the band after their close friend Dogus Yalcinkaya(bass guitarist) came to band as a bass guitarist in 2001. They had looked for a new permanent drummer and they trailed Yalcin Kaya (drums) who is Mehmet’s close friend from Kocaeli Univeristy. They liked Yalcin’s work and he became new Corona Borealis’ drummer. While they were looking for another guitarist for the band, they went on playing songs with one guitarist.
But the melodic songs that the band wrote was more into bass sound than guitar sound so they wanted to add another bassist for the band. They trailed another their close friend Sinan Awartani (bass guitars). Sinan accepted their invite and became new Corona Borealis member as a distortion bass guitarist. The band is going on playing songs with same members from 2001.
The band started for promo record in 2005 and it is going to finish soon. Their new album `Awaking The Winter Sun` will be in stores soon too.
