My name is Corrie Zazzera and I started this amazing journey as a musician 14 years ago. I started playing the guitar in my early teens. I started out on the electric guitar and was most influenced by bands such as Nirvana, Ozzy and Megadeth. When I went to high school, I went to a visual and performing arts high school called New School for the Arts. While I was attending NSA, I had the opportunity to take music theory, keyboard, composition and guitar classes. During my junior year at NSA, I discovered the classical guitar and studied with David Kriegal and Joe Costello. I picked up the classical style quickly and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to audition for the guitar program at Arizona State University. I was fortunate enough to be able to study with Professor Frank Koonce starting the second semester of my freshman year. During my time at ASU, I not only got the privilege to study with Frank Koonce but I also got to participate in master classes with such virtuosos as David Burgess, Martha Masters, Ana Vidovic, Richard Provost, Adam Holzman and Ronald Pearl. I also started teaching my own students in college and have been doing so for 8 years. I really love teaching, it gives me a chance to hang out with some really talented kids. It also helps me progress as a guitarist and performer. I graduated from ASU in December 2004 with my Bachelor of Music Performance degree for guitar.
After receiving my Bachelor's degree, I decided to go back to school for music education. I am now certified to teach Choral and General Music grades K-12. I taught elementary general music for one year and decided to go back to school AGAIN to pursue my masters in guitar performance. I continue to substitute teach in public schools and I plan on returning after the masters program. The perfect job for me would be to teach private guitar lessons and/or teach guitar classes in schools.
Hi, Corrie. You said, "The guitar is one of the most beautiful, sensitive and poetic instruments in all the world." Let me add to that . . . "in the right hands." And you have the right hands. :) Alan
I have no doubt in my mind that you will be the main event at the recital. $30 bucks isn't bad for a LOT of great bands, and hope they let people come in with digital cameras (might try to use a 35mm a friend has that uses film).
Thank you for the add. How are you doing? Anything new? Going to see the END OF SUMMER SCORCHER. When does HOWITZER play? Saw the show last year with ALICE IN CHAINS and DEFTONES and it was hot outside, as it will be this year, but it would've been worse if this took place back in the beginning of July.
