Libby & James are a young, fresh duo from Derby, using an acoustic bass guitar, keyboard, male and female vocals to create an original branch of music that can only be referred to as the love child of lyrical acoustic and electronic pop. Do not expect countless covers from this band as they are mainly concerned with writing their own material, however, never say never as a few covers are regularly performed at gigs with that unmistakeable Libby & James slant upon them. Libby McShane is 14 and the main vocalist and keyboardist of the band. She is extremely talented and was singing before she learnt to talk. She has sung in many church choirs and had wide experience of live performance even before the creation of Libby & James. James Fletcher is 17 and the bass guitarist with four years playing experience since originally uncovering an old guitar in his loft. Since the birth of Libby & James he has also developed his vocal talents to include them in many songs finding that the two voices compliment each other beautifully. The pair originally met and formed the band in the summer of 2007 and since then has used almost daily practises and weekly live performances at local pubs and venues to form well rounded songs as well as an exciting and sometimes emotion-provoking live act. When it comes to recording the pair only have a few days experience but of the three music producers worked with, all have commented on the ease and pleasantness of working with them. That is basically what Libby & James are about, live performances and writing original material that has the instant appeal of pop but with real heart and soul.
