The cosmic groove lizards are a high energy, creative group of musicians dedicated to developing a different style and sound of music. The talented group features original songs flavored with the varied musical experiences and interest of band members. All members have backgrounds in creative arts from music to graphic arts to architecture. Over the years they have honed their talents thru many different venues. This varied musical mix allows the band to now seek out musical roads less traveled. Continually being asked to describe their music, the band feels their unique blend of folk, rock, funk , bluegrass, and hip hop melds many musical influences. Their new sound has become known as FOLK NROLL.. From the structure of the classical to the sophisticated djembe rhythm of the Ivory coast to he reggae melody of the bass, the band uses many different sounds in creating their music. Their music and live performances are fun, with humor and crowd interaction adding to the interest and entertainment.
The band is comprised of Mark Herbert, guitar /lead vocals; Perry Smith guitar, vocals; Cheick Sissoko percussion/ vocals; Dave Hervey bass, vocals Mark writes most of the music and the group collaborates with the arrangements and backgrounds. The band dedicated to the overall creative power and collaborative effort of the group. Their sound crosses many boundaries. The Cosmic Groove Lizards fuse the best of folk and rock traditions with strong rhythms and percussion to make GOOD music to make you feel GOOD
