About me: I AM A LOVER OF ALL GOOD MUSIC, I LOVE TO DANCE, I HAVE BEEN IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS FOR 35 YEARS, In 1969, a Disc Jockey named Gary Byrd gave an inspiring young man the immense opportunity in the Radio Industry. This young man is known to many as “Radio Rahim”. It took place at radio station WWRL in New York City. Radio Rahim was already working MC occupations in his neighborhood, which were in the parks of Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. During those times, everyone had aspirations to be on radio, as an artist or DJ. While attending high school in 1972, he built a radio for a class project. In 1973, Radio Rahim was licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast. One year later, he was hired at a college radio station in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York’s WATC of State University of Farmingdale in which his alma mater. Many parties were held and one of many highlighters of the parties was “The Last Poets”. They perform for a local organization called “Youth in Motion” program. The event was held in a dance hall on Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn. Through Rahim’s promoting and managing, The Last Poets went on to become the only group in the music industry to sell records without air play. In fact they sold over a million records. At that time, many record executives told Rahim that the message was “too black” for radio airplay. This was soon before Russell Simmons came on the scene. Radio Rahim blazed the trail and pioneered the way for promoting Hip-Hop. Shortly after, Rahim met and became friends with this young man named Russell Simmons, who at the time was doing rap, and managing the great Kurtis Blow.
In the 1980’s, Rahim was promoting events for an R&B act called the “Crown Heights Affair”, and many other acts followed. In 1981 during the disco era, Rahim was the first to start award shows for recording artist soon after many award shows started popping up. In 1983 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the first to use what is now known as a street team. To expand he had to hit the streets, so Hip- Hop had its marketing in place. A concert the first ever in Brooklyn headliners included: Whodini, Run DMC, Jimmy Spicer, Kool Moe Dee, The Treacherous Three, and 4 other rap acts. Russell Simmons was his partner along with Roy Cormier also known as The Black Prince. Mr. Simmons sold Cosmic Joy his groups to promote a concert. Rahim’s technique to endorse the concert was so well prepared, Russell Simmons’ artist begin to grow more rapidly. Soon other promoters imitative his success and the big money executives used his success to package hip hop to the world. Cosmic Joy Entertainment, in which Radio Rahim is CEO and President, changed the image of Hip Hop promotion along with his partner Roy P. Cormier, Vice President for Cosmic Joy. For a while he was called “Cosmic Roy” by many at Def Jam Records, Russell Simmons’ record label.
Partnering with Roy, help motivated Cosmic Joy to the main stream artist, together had them all doing shows for us all over the world.
In 1986, twenty years later the entire record industry is fan based. In the Bronx, New York, and friends Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and others was in the front of the Hip Hop movement. Many people created this manner to make provisions for their families, to educate families of their ancestral heritage, to expand spiritual awareness, and make clear to their social consciousness.
The Real Radio Rahim was before the Spike Lee movie “Do the Right Thing”. In 1989, Chuck D of Public Enemy and Spike gave “Radio Rahim” his name as a trademark, because in the 1970’s he was known as “Kool Rod D” however, because of his infamous way of walking the streets of New York City with his radio while bringing a positive vibe to the people, he adopted the name.
Since 1992, Rahim left the music business to take hip hop to the classroom. Currently Rahim is working with a project called from “Hip Hop to Hip Hope”, created by noted physician, Dr. Gerald Deas, M.D., Director of Health Education Communication at Down State Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Now schools realize that true Hip Hop culture is about the roots in Africa. Many schools are teaching the children the knowledge of their ancestors, and this is boosting grades and most of all, their self esteem. In essence showing the upcoming generation the true meaning of Hip Hop and in its meaning hip hop is to edify and not to tear down nations. In 2005, Rahim reentered the industry with a marketing campaign for a classic hip hop concert. On February 2005 in Denver, CO, the renowned classic Hip Hop artist Whodini and 6 major hip hop artists with a concert and was a sellout crowd in spite of Clear Channel band for their show over the airway.
On March 16, 2007, Radio broadcasters got fined. The New York Times headlines read: “BROADCASTERS AGREE TO FINE OVER PAYOFFS”. Rahim is noted for putting in place a direct marketing plan for Whodini at Rush given to Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen. Yes, Hip Hop has taking a new direction, Rahim is busy taking back billions and all he is wanting is balance on the airways. Radio Rahim has been commissioned to educate and motivated upcoming and new artist of the historical culture of Hip Hop. Rahim is taking back billions and giving it back to the artist and making a declaration that a change has come. Rahim’s affirmation is to reach out to new Hip Hoppers and endorsing the “no profanity” in his engagements from the founding fathers of Hip Hop that he promotes. Radio Rahim has taken stand to change the mindset of those who are not aware of the great rich Hip Hop culture and its humble beginnings. Rahim continues the spreading the word of truth of Hip Hop to classrooms, lectures nationwide. He is motivated to educate and redirect Hip Hop to its roots and give the name Hip Hop its good name back.
Currently Radio Rahim is working with the community of Bedford-Stuyvesant in bringing quality education back to the Public Schools in the City of New York. Rahim’s aim is taking education back to the community, so the community can have their voice and not be under subjection under siege of Mayor Bloomberg’s acclaim to have control funding for public schools when in fact there is a hidden agenda when the children of Black and Latinos are losing out of a decent education, meanwhile Bloomberg’s idea of mayoral control is theoretically chimerical. Rahim has joined forces with The Black New Yorkers for Educational Excellence (BNYEE) (of which he is a member) and The New York Coalition for Neighborhood School Control (NYCNS) in efforts for equality for a proper education for the minority students in New York City and dilute disparity in the New York Public School system . Which is not happening with the mayoral control.

What’s in…2010? By Lady Paula Ten is one of the perfect numbers and it signifies the perfection and completion in Divine order. So, let us take a look at what’s in 2010…
Rules and regulations – The Ten Commandments enclosed all that is necessary in obedience to God’s Law and both as to their number and order. Prayer – In the Lord’s Prayer it has ten completed clauses. These clauses have the significance of their respective numbers. First, God’s sovereignty Second Jehovah’s visible name Third, the authenticity of God’s kingdom Fourth, mentions the earth Fifth, the precious gift of Grace and supplying our need. Sixth, treats of man’s sin. Seventh, pleads for spiritual guidance. Eighth, pleads for final deliverance from all evil. Ninth, sums up the divine glory, while Tenth, completes the eternal cycle.
Money – the tithes represent the whole of what is due from man to God.
Security – the security for the saints is presented in Romans 8:38, 39. The assurance to all who are “in Christ,” they are as follows: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers; nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature.”
What Jesus is to you, found in the gospel of John “I am the Bread of Life” (6:35) “I am the Bread of Life which came down from heaven” (6:41). “I am the Living Bread” (6:51). “I am the Light of the world” (8:12). “I am One that bear witness of Myself” (8:18). “I am the Door of the sheep” (10:14). “I am the Good Shepherd” (10:14). “I am the Resurrection and the Life” (14:6). “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (14:6). “I am the True Vine” (15:1, 5)
