..It has only rained twice on COTA in 31 year. This was the second time, Saturday last year... but look what a great time everyone had anyway!
The band is Frio Trio: Michael Stephans, drums, Francios Mouton, bass, and Vic Juris, guitar.
The Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts (C.O.T.A.) was held on Friday evening, September 5, through Sunday, September 7, 2008. This marks the 31st year for the jazz and arts festival help in the tiny town of Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania.
One of the best-kept secrets on East Coast, this friendly, community festival features national and international jazz artists, along with local talent and emerging artists. Food vendors, craft artists, and a children’s area are on-site.
The festival begins on Friday evening with in-door music, dance and theater events at the Church of the Mountain in the Delaware Water Gap. On Saturday, and Sunday, September, the festival moves outdoors to the main stage, where jazz lovers will be able to enjoy two full days of music including an eclectic mix of Bebop, Swing, Blues, Jazz Fusion, Big Band Sounds, and Dixieland. Blankets and lawn-chairs are recommended.
The majority of world-class musicians who perform at the festival live in the Pocono region, as do the artists, artisans, and even the food vendors who participate.
Since 1978, COTA has grown into a major jazz and cultural event, and is now attended by nearly 4,000 fans annually. The festival was the brainstorm of three local residents, the legendary saxophonist, Phil Woods, Rick Chamberlain, who is the principal trombonist with the New York City Ballet, and the late Ed Joubert. A few hundred music lovers came the first year to hear such jazz notables as Phil Woods, the late Al Cohn, Bill Goodwin, and Steve Gilmore.
For further information regarding the festival, please call C.O.T.A. at (570) 424-2210, or visit our website at www.cotajazz.org.
The Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts is presented in cooperation with the Borough of Delaware Water Gap, Castle Hill Development, Inc., the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, and the National Park Service.
I hope my words find you well. I just wanted to share with you I’ve just posted an article along with some pictures of The Celebration of the Arts 32nd Annual Jazz and Arts Festival which took place September 11th - 13th on my profile. I welcome your comments and reflection on my words and images as I’m eager to read them. I look forward to hearing from you soon and I’ll keep a good thought for you until then.
I always look forward to it every year. It's magical. The people are wonderful and are so nice to each other. I hope I can sell my jewelry next year in 2010. Even when I don't sell, I love the Festival. You're with people you know who have known you a long time and it's just pleasant. It's always sad when it's over for another year. Thank you
I hope my words find you well. I have recently decided not to create events on behalf of other groups as it tends to mislead others into thinking The Forwardian Arts Society is hosting the event. However, if you would create an event listing for COTA and send an invitation to me, I would be happy to invite everyone on my friends’ list to it. I feel this would be more advantageous to COTA as the invite can then contain more detailed information than I have at my disposal and avoid people thinking this is an event I’m putting on. I look forward to hearing from you soon and I’ll keep a good thought for you until then.
I hope my words find you well. I had a great time at the Camp Jazz Concert

Please feel free to share your comments and reflections. You may share the material you find with anyone you wish. Just include our website. I look forward to hearing from you and I’ll keep a good thought for you until then.
