This ranges from person to person in the group, but artists like Tupac Shakur, Mobb Deep, Nas, Jay-Z, Canibus, Kool G. Rap, and Rakim are a few of the artists that have inspired us a lot throughout our lives.
Sounds Like
The sound of COU cannot be put into a box like it's hardcore hip hop or just guys that can rhyme. We are men that make SONGS. We don't make tracks, we make SONGS. Anybody can freestyle, we put the pen to the paper and write something meaningful. We got that music that can make you think, make you dance, and make you go crazy all at the same time. COU 4 Life.
Welcome to the sounds of COU. The 8-man collective hails from Staten Island, New York. Through lifelong friendships and family connections, all 8 MC’s come together to form a powerhouse of lyrical talent. When the group officially came to fruition in 2003, they began to craft songs from the heart. Ranging from certified street bangers, club hits, and radio jams to punch-line driven tracks and thought-provoking songs, the group covers all bases of authentic hip hop music. Everyone brings something different to the table that is essential to crafting the sound that is COU.
E-Man handles the production for COU. When E-Man gets on the mic, he becomes Billy a.k.a. The Street Preacher and he has a message for the hip hop world. Fluid is an incredible lyricist with great songs and punch lines that many battle MC’s would kill for. KO is another talented lyricist who crafts many story-driven songs and isn’t shy to say what’s on his mind. Narcissist is a man that can rhyme for days with a tremendous flow and a great knack for song ideas. Aggie Deuce is a very versatile MC as he can pound the streets with a banger or provide the ladies with something to dance to. 40th St. Black is a ball of energy, bringing plenty of enthusiasm and a raw street sound with him on every song. Killa The Great is dangerous whether getting on the mic or telling a joke as he incorporates very funny punch lines in his verses. A.T.G. brings with him a swagger and talent that was made for hip hop as his lyrics truly shine on any song.
Currently unsigned and shopping their music across the country, COU will continue to make classic hip hop music as they patiently await their chance to be heard on a much broader scale. As fans and musicians of hip hop, COU will do everything it takes to keep the spirit and soul of hip hop alive and well for many years to come.
