I absolutely love ALABAMA!!! I like any kind of Country Music and Classic Rock. Randy Owen is now solo and sounds awesome on his own too!
MoviesI have seen CARS 100 times. Cody loves that movie and I think has watched it everyday since it was released!
TelevisionIf I have time to set down and watch any TV is is usually only ER or NASCAR and sometimes the Food Network or Discovery Health
BooksRandy Paush's Autobiograpy and Randy Owen's brand new book. Books on Cerebral Palsy, Seizure Disorders and Therapy. Cookbooks and Taste of Home magazine. Country Sampler and Country Living magazines.
HeroesMy father is probably my biggest hero. He was the one that taught me to work hard to achieve what I wanted. He also taught me to save money and not blow it as soon as I had it in my pocket. He also taught me that knowledge was the one thing that NO ONE could ever take from you! I still miss him very much and he was taken from me 23 years ago. My son is also my hero. He has taught me so much, like how to be patient when you think there is no more patience left. I admire him for the strength he still has with all he has been through and continues to go through. He never gives up, he just keeps fighting each battle as they come.

I am very happily married to the most wonderful man in the world.
I am the mother of a precious "Special Needs" son (Cody) who will be turning 16 on February 28th.

Cody has Spastic Quad Cerebral Palsy and Seizure Disorder and is blind in his left eye. He is severly delayed for all gross and fine motor skills. He is unable to walk, sit on his own or talk. He is very smart and knows what he wants and what you are saying to him. He has taught me so much! He changed my life in so many ways. Although it has been quite a challenge sometimes, I wouldn't change it. I am here to meet people who may have questions about Cerebral Palsy or Seizures. I have been through alot with my son. I feel my purpose in this life is to help others who may be struggling in the same situation and to share all I have learned over the past 15 1/2 years.

.. Since Cody had a Mickey G-tube placed a little over two years ago he is doing wonderful. He has gained 34 lbs making him 80 lbs now. He has grown quite a bit too, and is currently 4' 10". We actually just got a hoyer lift to help lift Cody since he is getting so big. He has not been near as sickly either which I contribute to the weight gain and also the Smart Vest chest therapy machine we use on him each day. Cody is progressing slowly but surely and is getting so big. Cody now likes to push himself up when he is in the recliner. He will push to a staning position and with the help of two people he will take steps. He is also riding a Rifton Bike in school and pushes himself around in a feeder seat. We are currently looking at a piece of equipment that I think will do him wonders. It is called an UP N Go and make my Easy Walking. There web address is www.easy-walking.com this piece of equipment can be used as a sit to stand assist, transfer device and gait trainer. Cody is working with a scanning communication device and this progress is really slow but he is learning. Cody will also take a couple bites on his own with some help guiding the spoon (when he is motivated). Cody is definately going through the teenage thing and when he doesn't feel like doing something he won't! This is frustrating sometimes but it his only way of control.

I know it has been a long road but we are taking this journey together. I know I haven't been on here much lately but I do think of each of you and have kept you in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for all the emails and comments. You are all wonderful and your friendship means alot to me...

I AM NOT HERE TO BE PROPOSITIONED, HIT ON OR HARRASSED IN ANYWAY SO PLEASE DON'T TRY!

Lil Angel

..

I AM THE CHILD

.. I am the child who cannot talk. You often pity me, I see it in your eyes. You wonder how much I am aware of. I see that as well. I am aware of much... whether you are happy or sad or fearful, patient or impatient, full of love and desire, or if you are just doing your duty by me. I marvel at your frustration, knowing mine to be far greater, for I cannot express myself or my needs as you can

You cannot conceive my isolation, so complete it is at times. I do not gift you with clever conversation, cute remarks to be laughed over and repeated. I do not give you answers to your everyday questions, responses over my well being, sharing my needs or comments about the world around me. I do not give you rewards as defined by the worlds standards, great strides in development that you can credit yourself. I do not give you understanding as you know it.

What I give you is much more valuale... I give you instead opportunities. Opportunities to discover the depth of your character, not mine; the depth of your love, your commitment, your patience, your abilities, the opportunity to explore your spirit more deeply than you imagined possible. I drive you further than you would ever go on your own, working harder, seeking answers to your many questions with no answers. I am the child who cannot talk.

I am the child who cannot walk. The world seems to pass my by. You see the longing in my eyes to get out of this chair, to run and play like other children. There is much you take for granted. I want the toys on the shelf, I need to go to the bathroom, oh I've dropped my fork again. I am dependent on you in these ways. My gift to you is to make you more aware of your great fortune, your healthy back and legs, your ability to do for yourself. Sometimes people appear not to notice me; I always notice them. I feel not so much envy as desire to stand upright, to put one foot in front of the other, to be independent. I am the child who cannot walk.

I am the child who is mentally impaired. I don't learn easily, if you judge me by the world's measuring stick. What I do know is infinite joy in simple things. I am not burdened as you are with the strifes and conflicts of a more complicated life. My gift to you is to grant you the freedom to enjoy things as a child, to teach you how much your arms around me mean, to give you love. I give you the gift of simplicity. I am the child who is mentally impaired

I am the disabled child. I am your teacher. If you allow me, I will teach you what is really important in life. I will give you and teach you unconditional love. I gift you with my innocent trust, my dependency upon you. I teach you about how precious this life is and about not taking things for granted. I teach you about forgetting your own needs and desires and dreams. I teach you abut giving. Most of all, I teach you hope, joy and faith. I am the disabled child.

With God

..

Who I'd like to meet:
I am interested in meeting other parents that have the same or similar situation as I do. Also if you have questions or just want to talk about Cerebral Palsy, Seizure Disorders or Developmental Delays please feel free to email me. I don't have alot of time so it may take me a little while to get back to you but I will do so.

On this special day we celebrate moms. Here are some quotes celebrating you!

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.
Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
Sooner or later we all quote our mothers.
Bern Williams
Some are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers, but it is love just the same.
Pearl Buck (1892 - 1973)
The art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children.
Elain Heffner
A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary.
Dorothy C. Fisher (1879 - 1958)
Sometimes the laughter in mothering is the recognition of the ironies and absurdities. Sometime, though, it's just pure, unthinking delight.
Barbara Schapiro
The most important thing she'd learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.
Jill Churchill
The world is full of women blindsided by the unceasing demands of motherhood, still flabbergasted by how a job can be terrific and torturous.
Anna Quindlen
A child may have too much of his mother's blessing.
Scottish Proverb
A mother understands what a child does not say.
Jewish Proverb
A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world.
Agatha Christie (1890 - 1976)
Motherly love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.
Marion C. Garretty

So Happy Mother's Day!
Vicky
