Count The Stars began in Albany, NY in 1995, when Dave Shapiro and Chris Kasarjian started playing music together at the age of 12. Clarke Foley joined them in 1997, and with the addition of Adam Manning in 2001 the ideal team was complete. By the end of high school the band were ready to reject the typical college plan - they were on a mission to pursue music full time; and they were prepared to do whatever it took to live their dream. Convinced that their talent, hard work and determination would put them over the top, they set about creating a plan for success. Their guerrilla marketing campaign combined Internet marketing, personal calls to their mailing list in each market, and taking their CDs directly to potential fans in malls and colleges. Once their goals were defined, the band promptly headed out on the road, after booking themselves (no easy feat) a six-month National tour. They succeeded in selling an astounding 5000 copies of their first CD, building a strong underground following of self-made fans. Impressed by their music and uncompromising drive, Victory Records signed the band in the summer of 2002. Perfectly prepared as always, with twenty songs ready to go, studio time was booked and plans were made for Dave Cobb to produce their album at Atlantas Tree Studios, famous for recording Elton John, Billy Corgan and Sevendust. The resulting record is chock full of original songs with infectious hooks and a pop/punk edge standouts include "Right Behind Me" and "First Time". "Never Be Taken Alive" explores the freewheeling life of the road and delves into failed relationships with bittersweet lyrics that show mature insight for a bands label debut. With a multitude of tours under their belts at a young age, Count The Stars has shared the stage with a variety of successful bands, from Sugarcult and Thursday to Midtown and Dashboard Confessional. They will continue their quest for world domination, touring and connecting with fans through 2003 and beyond. With talent, charm and an amazing work ethic, Count The Stars are a band that is bound to succeed...
