Count Vanderhoff began his musical career in 1956 as a guitar technician for Rod Hull. In 1978, Vanderhoff realised that Rod wasn't a guitarist at all, and that he had been restringing and tuning an emu for 22 years. Furious, Vanderhoff emigrated to the Faroe Islands to spend the rest of his years as a seagull farmer, or at least that was the plan. In 1998 the Faroese authorities banished the Count back to the UK for molesting a seagull (Vanderhoff strongly denies these allegations, maintaining that the bird was a cormorant). Back in the UK and during some major roadworks, Vanderhoff developed a deep love of the art of ventriloquism, touring his one man show "Lamposts On Crack - The Story Of Moses" around the city of Okehampton with limited success. Shortly after being booed off stage at the Okehampton Army Training Camp's "Fun Zone", Vanderhoff realised that he hadn't been using a ventriloquist's dummy at all, but an electric guitar. Mortified by the thought that his entire career could be defined only by guitar/ventriloquist's dummy mixups, the Count fled the city to the secluded village of Exeter, where he decided to try his hand at DJing and music production. Despite some initial setbacks involving grapes, Vanderhoff now has a residency at Evolution nights in Exeter, along with a weekly radioshow at www.visionbassradio.com. But this is only the beginning for Vanderhoff, who at this very second is plotting his global takeover, ventriloquists permitting. You can download a few of my mixes here:
