Originally a coup stick was used to display the bravery of a warrior. An Indian man's status was decided by his courage as a fighter and his success as a hunter. The ultimate act of bravery was to get close enough to touch an enemy with a coup stick and let him live (and also survive himself!) This allowed him to claim some of his opponent’s medicine or spiritual powers.

So we played a show at Herman's Hideway last night for 101.5 we were initially contacted to do this gig as a favor ie for free but we told them no so they promised us 3rd in lineup,name on the marquee, and we were to be broadcast one the radio none of which happened typical corporate bullshit there is a word for that kind of greed and gluttony in lakota Wasicu and native people typically use that term to describe the white man but there is one in every race always trying to screw someone over take whatever they can get and leave you with no home no wealth nothing and they could'nt give a flying fecal matter not only did they renig on everything that was promised but they even spelled our name wrong on the tickets and whats this about a radio station that does what they say their going to do they claim on air 101.5 denver's independent live, live local music broadcast every thurs from hermans 10-midnight when in fact they dont play any live music that night they only play whats on a disc which is false advertisment and then the commercial for the show continuously played on the air mentioned a band that was no longer on the bill and left us out so never again will we play for hermans or deal with 101.5 just wait you will regret screwing over another indigenous person you wasicu piece of... gracious glorious shining example to the human race
