About me: Hello. Sheldon the lovable but geeky spokes-car and mascot for Courtesy on th Road here. The upside to being a friend of Sheldon can be substantial for high school drivers enrolled in Courtesy on the Road.
Courtesy on the Road is a program that began in Columbia, MD, in the Columbia Mall, to be exact. The idea is simple. Instead of having the police catch you dong something wrong, Sheldon n friends would like to catch you doing something right and give you cool stuff.
For the past coupla years we have given away gift packages with oil changes, restaurant and fast food gift cards, i-tunes music, best buy gift cards, salon goodies and services, sporting goods, bowling, bike rentals, Columbia Association passes, movie, concert and show tickets, karate lessons and of course the ever-present chicken nuggets!
During the school year, Sheldon sightings are once a week once the program is underway. But there are many more ways to win stuff, since we have contests running weekly, too. Plus we will be searching for a band to co-write and do a music video to be the theme of next year's program.
Check out Exit 76's song and video "It's the journey" and see what we're talking about.
There's lots more to tell, but for right now, I suggest checking out www.courtesyontheroad.com for more of the picture. School's going to be starting up almost before you know it (bummer) but at least drivers can look forward to winning cool stuff...like $100 gas cards!!! just for signing up and being safe, smart and courteous drivers. (And did we mention the end of the year party for the school with the most points? No? OK, we'll save that for later) Oh, and you can also sign up at www.courtesyontheroad.com and beat the start-of-school rush!!!
Who I'd like to meet: All Maryland high school students! And some of the rest of you out there...
and of course, Brian Roberts....
