Born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. This versatile singer/songwriter developed an appreciation for music at an early age. No matter how hard times became, the music never stopped playing at home. Courtney would often escape into the realm of her favorite songs as she sang along and made them her own. The soulful expression of artists like Aretha Franklin touched her heart and eased her soul. Before long, these songs became an inextricable part of who she was. As a teenager, Courtney began keeping a journal and writing her own lyrics as a means of self-expression. It was her hope to eventually inspire others with her own unique sound, as she had been inspired in the past.
At the age of 15, her high school choir director heard her singing in the halls with a group of friends and was instantly impressed with her talent. She soon became active in the local music arena adding top-notch performances in choir groups and talent shows to her list of achievements. She began recording professionally in 2001, earning writing credits as well as being featured on Mike Boston’s debut Album “Baptism by Fire”. When she joined Diamond Mind Entertainment in 2002, she recorded her first solo track “Daswassup”, featuring Kwashe of The Original Black Kings her first time in the studio with him.
Courtney has often been compared to the likes of Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott due to the raw emotion contained in her lyrics and the power with which she delivers. She’s had the opportunity to bless audiences with her sound having opened for Joe Budden and Jagged Edge in 2003. She’s also performed for Mike Boston at his CD Release Event in 2003, The 5th and 6th Annual H.B.N.N. Fall ‘’N’ Love Fashion Show, Boston Caribbean Carnival-2004, as well as having performed at local venues in Boston, New York, Atlanta, and Miami.
