Cousteau are a London based group, formed in 1998, who gained critical acclaim in the UK and other countries, with considerable success in the US and Italy.

Members of the group have a long background in music, Robin composing soundtracks, Liam sang in various bands and Joe was a session musician.

The band name was influenced by the fact all the group had grown up watching the legendary Jacques Cousteau on TV, and the sound the group was producing had an underwater feel.

The first Cousteau album was self-produced and recorded in various home studios. 3,000 copies were released on the Global Warming label in 1999 and were quickly sold out. Subsequently Palm Pictures signed the group who then re-recorded the majority of the songs for the 2000 release of the eponymous album.

The song The Last Good Day of the Year was used in TV adverts in the US and Italy and the group became well known in those countries, touring extensively.

The group's second album, Sirena, was released in 2002, coming out in the US with a DVD of videos for the singles. During the year they continued to tour the UK and Italy including appearing in front of an audience of 30,000 at Cagliari.

To solve a visa problem Dan Moore was recruited to play keyboards for the US stage of the tour. The group's songwriter Davey Ray Moor then decided to leave the band so Liam took on the task of writing songs for the much anticipated third album with assistance from the band members.

The year 2003 saw the band doing a lot less touring but beginning to write and record the third album for which they eventually signed to Endeavour Records in late 2004. Nova Scotia finally saw the light of day in April 2005.
The group toured the UK and Italy that year culminating in a charity gig for the Tsunami in July, ably supported by El Hula (now known as The Thin Men).

In July 2005 Tindersticks drummer Al Macaulay played drums for the group at a private gig in Italy.

Nova Scotia was released in the US in January 2006 on the One Little Indian label, for legal reasons the band had to use the name Moreau for this release.
