BILLY: Billy started off his career in music in the 70s, first meeting up with Matt at High School many moons ago then moving on and joining rock band "STAG" who played around the circuit of glasgow venues during the late 70s, during that time Billy had shifted between various different bands too numerous to mention here. Billy teamed up with Matt again in the early 90's to form bluesband "FOOL NO MORE", as a side project he also joined up with "WHUMFFF" a beer drinking, hellraising biker rockband, played with them for 10 years and finally joined Pete & Matt again to form COUSTI last year.
MATT:
Matt has been in various bands throughout his career also notably "FOOL NO MORE" with Billy. Then later formed scots tribute band "MAC FLOYD" who at the time were regarded as the "ultimate pink floyd tribute" and played shows not only here in the UK but also occasionaly across in Europe too. Matt finally met up with Pete sometime between 1999-2000 on the local music scene, they started writing together and held regular acoustic nights in local venue's, and from there COUSTI was born.
PETE:
Pete has been in various bands since he was 16, including "IMPACT" - "BROTHER BEARS BAND" - "DEAD AHEAD" - "THE WIND" & "THE BEAR STREET BAND" which seen him do mainly covers although progressing onto original songs once he crafted and nurtured his songwriting skills during the 70s - with all mainly glasgow based bands Pete made a name for himself as "that boys some chanter" accolades. Touring in the early days, as a roadie, with bands such as Beggars Opera who travelled across Europe and UK, pete pottered about for a while doing various things like teaching kids music, tour managing a successful Scottish based band and writing songs for other acts etc (no big hits yet!) during the 90s Pete then met up with Matt after a phone call from him because he was fed up writing on his own and that he had heard of him on the scene and the rest they say - is history
BAND HISTORY! Cousti had not really done a lot on the gig front . Matt and pete hosted acoustic chill nights in local bars for a year or so locally in Cumbernauld where Matt reunited himself with Billy again and formed Cousti just over a year ago. Since then they've done a couple of gigs at the local theatre and early this year went in to glasgow for a jam night. They went up and did a couple of our tunes then were later told, while having a drink, and watching other acts playing that it was infact a competition run by "Glasgow Fringe" part of the Celtic Connection Events going on in the city. later they were announced as one of the heat winners going forward to the final at the riverside club in Glasgow being held the following week. which they won!! the prize being a day's recording at carlton studios's in glasgow, six songs were recorded, of which three can be heard on this page, since then cousti have been out there gigging and are looking to record an album early next year and play on the festival circuit. things are starting to happen !!
Merry Christmas Cousti, have a great time...and be glad that you are not a fairy, and this is why :-
I am a little fairy, On tap o' the Christmas Tree, It's no' a job I fancy, Well how would you like tae be me? A' tarted up wi' tinsel, It's enough to mak ye boak , An a couple o' jaggy branches rammed up the back o' your frock. An' these wee lights a'roon me I canny get my sleep. An' there's the yearly visit fae Santa - Big fat creep! On Christmas Day I'm stuck up here while you're a' wirin' in. An' naebody says "Hey you up there could you go a slug o' gin? It's nae joke bein' a fairy, the job's beyond belief. You've got to go roon' the wean's beds an' lift their rotten teeth. But o' a' the joabs a fairy gets an' I've mentioned only some, the very worst is sitting up a tree wi' pine needles up yir bum. When a' the fairies meet again by the light of' the silvery moon. Ye can tell the Christmas fairies, they're the wans that canna sit doon. The Christmas tree's a bonny sight as the firelight softly flickers. But think o' me I'm stuck up here wi' needles in my knickers. So soon as Christmas time's right by an' I stop bein' sae full o' cheer, 'I'll get awa back tae Fairyland, an' I'll see yous a' next year....
