Cowbois celtaidd (celtic cowboys in welsh) are a traditional welsh folk rock collective from the Island of Anglesey North wales they were formed in 2006 from a desire to get into festivals without paying and to make an active contribution to the underground festivals gigs and parties they have frequented for the last decade or so , after their third ever gig the cowbois where spotted by the minister for information at gwynfryn records and were whisked off to the studio to make there first album “tatws pump munud” (five minute potatoes – a local welsh dish) expertly produced by Bob Galvin , the album not the dish , much of the album was written on the way to the studio to record or actualy in the studio itself , which made for some exciting songs .
To the surprise of the band , who split up and reformed twice during the making of the album , the album was a huge success selling well all over wales and reaching the respectable position of number 3 in the national chart , the album received massive airplay across wales and due to a campaign by BBC radio cymru (the welsh language radio) , the band were booked in a high profile gig in sesiwn fawr in dolgellau.
One hundred gigs , two new members , a baby , a tour of ireland , 700 cups of tea and an unmentionable amount of unmentionables later here we are ,
If you need a gig and you know where to find us maybe you can hire! ..
