Photobucket Photobucket WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT US..... tsmittyp The outdoor staff was so friendly and courteous I believe if I rode in on my paint they would have fed, brushed and bedded him down. Being a Texan I take stock in customer service and it begins at the door, and next at how the employees treat and communicate to their bar backs and custodial staff. The staff here is friendly, and helpful and showed no difference to persons of color. That is a quality I have found to be the success of Western clubs around the country. But no hitching post. Best place I've found in LA, SOCAL area. Thank goodness not too much rock, disco and line dancing T S. Los Angeles, CA Let me just say... I am the ultimate urban girl. After experiencing the PBR (Professional Bull Rider) championship (I kept calling it the rodeo and got chastised) ?I LOVED IT! I am somewhat embarrassed and my family from the south side of Chicago could not believe that I subjected myself to such an experience. Well, I was entranced by the wild mix of ages in the club. There was the loveliest older couple that just inspired me to grab the nearest cowboy and be married for 50 years. They seemed to be having so much fun, and getting good exercise. Umm I love exercise. Anyway, it doesn't matter who you are even the hardest urbanite can have a good time in Cowboy Country! Steve s. Anaheim, CA I now admit I can dance a 2-step 10-step and western swing, and... wait. I'm officially becoming my grandparents, when they used to square dance. CC has plenty of dance floor space, but could use a dose of better floor etiquette. Wednesdays are better for lessons, and weekends are better for people watching. Ryan C. Anaheim, CA This place is cool just little too far for me I have been here a bunch of times on Sat because it is the only place close for country music cheap beers and good music that’s all you need Sara C. Fullerton, CA I fell in love with Cowboy Country the second I walked in the door!! It is a huge place, with enough parking if you get there early enough. The cover is only $5 but if you get there between 6-7 it's free. The inside is totally legit cowboy and the drinks are crazy cheap! Everything's like 3-4 bucks. Well, that I had. They have free line dancing lessons, which are hard but fun, and good for peeps like me that have a fear of public dancing ha-ha. They have hard-core country dancers there that are the regulars but also groups that are there for birthdays, bachelorette parties and so forth. The bands are really good and it's just a fun place to hang out. I'm going again tonight! andrya h. Long Beach, CA The void in my nightlife has been filled. ??With much resistance and hesitance to change, our friend forced us to come here for her birthday. It is in North Long Beach (located in the shopping center of my favorite hole in the wall thrift store).. ??This place is huge!!! 2 large stages with another one upstairs. Everyone was line dancing their little tooshies off, there was an amazing live band doing country covers, and a Disc Jockey. Not a DJ. A Disc Jockey, in his own little booth. ??The drinks were cheap, and I never had to wait more than 10 seconds to order one. ??The Cowboys and Cowladies were very friendly and helpful when it came to showing us the moves. ??Needless to say, the people watching is astonishing..... The mustaches, and boots, and dance moves and sincere smiles gave me so many new feelings. Save a horse.......??And I have a million new ideas for my big hair obsession. ??I am def. returning. Allison Y. Culver City, CA Having just moved down from Sacramento, I was looking to claim a new country line-dancing bar for myself. Mind you, I didn't know ANYONE down in LA, so my new venture was without the support of my regular girl buddies. I went on a Saturday night and I was very surprised to see that the cover charge was only $5! Another surprise was my Coors light was only $3.50..."pretty good so far", I thought. ??As I looked around, this place was huge. From my recollection, it had 3 dance floors, 1 large bar, pool tables, and lots of places to sit in the 2-story building. The main dance floor had mirrored walls, so it's a good place to technically view yourself. Apparently, they have live bands often, but the one last Saturday was rockin'. I think I forgot what great talent there is in LA. I think I read somewhere that this bar was suppose to replicate the bar in the movie, "Thelma and Louise".(note: It was filmed here) ??There's *a lot* of 2-stepping and more than what I'm used to. Like most country bars, the older guys (I’m in my mid-20's) are usually the only ones who ask you to dance and who *know* how to lead. All of the men I met were very courteous, and were kind enough to show me several other types of dances (w.coast swing, e.coast swing, quick swing, and even a polka!) ??The average population is your typical 20's 30's, 40's, 50's crowd, but there are always those new college girls/guys who go there for the "experience". I admit, I was one of those 'new college girl who went for the experience' at first too! I just got caught up in the whole fun of line dancing and just never stopped! I’ve always been more fond of country bars because it's not quite your typical 'meat market' and a new face is always welcomed. I really had a great time and I do plan on going again! Jennifer D. Seal Beach, CA I love it! rommel h. Hercules, CA If you a) don’t live near the place b) wouldn’t call country music your favorite genre c) have plenty of places to go near your own home d) don’t enjoy sticking out like a sore thumb or e) all of the above, then you would think that Cowboy Country located in North Long Beach wouldn’t exactly be you're cup of tea. You might be right, but then again, you might be wrong upon learning that our excursion into the unknown would throw us waist deep in cowboy hats and two-steps, I of course was a little hesitant. Add on top of that a $5 cover to a bar I wasn’t exactly ecstatic about to begin with and we had the ingredients of a busted night. But just upon walking in, I could tell the night wouldn’t be as bad as I thought ?the live band covered many a "famous" country song and when they were off, the dj kept the roller rink looking dance floor busy playing a variety of country music for all to enjoy. Drinks were very reasonably priced and the scene was one of good times and having fun. The waitresses were very cordial and bar staff were quick to make sure everyone had a drink in their hand. Unfortunately, I can only take so much country music before I need to take a tack hammer to my head, so the fun factor significantly decreased by the end. All in all, a much better experience than I expected and for those who shun country bars, I suggest you give it a try before jumping to conclusions. You just might miss out on a really good time. Yahoo! Local User ?As close to AZ/TX country bar as you'll find in OC: Much cleaner and authentic than In-Cahoots with much more friendly clientele. Has three dance floors, although only one is really used. Live music on Saturday nights is surprisingly talented, and better yet the music is loud and fun on the dance floor but the low ceiling and speaker arrangement allows only moderately raised voices at the tables. $5 cover is hard to beat.? Senor Cosmonaut ? ?Oddly entertaining...: I'm not a fan of country music, but I did enjoy hanging out at this place on a Saturday night. The band was decent and the dancers were fun to watch. They have a snack stand and I ate a quesadilla. The beer prices are decent. They also have a Western wear store. How about that! It's a big place with pool tables upstairs. Thelma and Louise was shot here by the way. Not my cup of tea overall, but if you like the cowboy thing, you'll love this place. RW, Bob, Bobby ?FOR LA, NOT BAD AT ALL: Saturdays are hoppin, plenty of room, pretty good bands, pretty decent DJs, could be more contemporary country music but the place is authentic. Waitresses and bartenders are cute and friendly too. Comfortable, friendly, fun place, out in the sticks a bit, but close to the freeways..

About me:

Cowboy Country is one of the few remaining Country venues providing LIVE COUNTRY MUSIC in Southern California. Prior to that the building, built in 1964, had housed many other noteworthy clubs under its roof. The most notable club housed there was The Silver Bullet which was open during those “Urban Cowboy” days of the 80’s. Also notable is the fact that The Silver Bullet was the filming location of the cult classic “Thelma and Louise”. It was the infamous scene of the crime that the girls were on the run from for the rest of the movie. During those days many famous national artists had cruised on by to play on it’s stage. When Cowboy Country opened our goal was to fill a void - a place for Live Country Music. Cowboy Country has introduced many new bands to the local Country Music scene as well as giving some of the more established bands a grander stage and larger audience to play to. Some national artists were also brought in as well. Cowboy Country is a large 15,000 sq foot dancehall and saloon complete with three dance floors on two levels, a large stage, pool room, full kitchen and two bars. The decor is all Country. Rough cut cedar panels on all the walls and lots of PBR, rodeo and country music memorabilia on the walls. All in all Cowboy Country is the last of the local “Cowboy Palaces” left in Southern California. It has a complete and total Country feel yet is not intimidating to the new or non Country fan. In fact people of all walks of life and all ages frequent the club every night...
