Ex 4AD Band Swallow member Mike Mason and Ex Indie Band Salad's front woman Marijne van der Vlugt were match made by Debbie Smith (Echobelly, Curve) and liked each others work....this was a while back, but they have finally recorded their debut album, while building barns, having babies, learning new work skills, buying houses, losing jobs, losing girlfriends, losing money, gaining money, getting new jobs, getting married, moving to Amsterdam and back, you name it, it's been thrown at them in the last 10 years or so.
Mike creates the music, and Marijne writes the lyrics and melodies and shapes the tracks into song shape and gives them an identity, after which together they make the arrangements and production work.
The Tracks reflect the emotional roller coaster these two have been on this decade and they feel the result is organic and true.
If you’re looking for a genre then Alternative ElectroPop would suffice but with an Organic and True Feel
Marijne and Mike trust each others music taste implicitly, but their life styles seem to be at polar opposites. Marijne hanging out in Notting Hill while Mike is beekeeping in the Oxfordshire country side, yet when the two meet artistically something magical happens.
I have just started to work for Live Nation in Los Angeles. Excited to hear the album is done and can't wait to get a copy. Happy to have a whisper in an ear for you....
