Drummer Andrew Smith says he finally decided to marry vocalist Kylie Mahoney after staring at her ass on stage for two years. Mahoney says he should have got it in one. Throw into the mix Kylie’s brother Ben Mahoney on guitar and you’ve got some potentially explosive family dynamics. All this makes rock-solid bassist Matt Hammond feel gratefully unrelated.
Key exponents of the new Sound-Switcher movement, where bands leap from one style to the next, Cow Lazy are kinetic and clever.
With members from defunct Melbourne indie legends BoB, who built a loyal following over ten years and four well received CDs, and now with new electronic influences, Cow Lazy are set to become an exciting new force in rock.
And it all began with a wiggling ass!
After a short break from live shows to record their stunning debut album, The butcher's Dog, Cow Lazy are back out touring - see 'upcoming shows' for details of our upcomimg CD launch.
About 'The Butcher's Dog;
‘Beautiful lazy-assed rockin’ tunes given to dramatic cinematic compulsions. ‘THE BUTCHER’S DOG’ is a belly full of happiness.
Four years in the making, this CD has seen not one but two pregnancies by singer Mahoney (try recording vocals when you’re nine months pregnant!), one university degree, two unreasonably lengthy overseas meanderings and some hilariously disastrous studio renovations - and they call themselves lazy!
Recorded entirely in Mahoney’s home studio and then mixed and engineered by ARIA award nominated producer Nigel Derricks, Cow Lazy’s sound has been compared to acts as diverse as Arcade Fire, The Sabateurs, Blur, Mazzy Star and Modest Mouse.
Hey there guys. Can you please do us a huge favour and vote for Backpackers in the Logies? We know we're not gonna win but it would be an absolute pisser if we got nominated and give the show and all the bands a bit more exposure. There are details on how to do it on the new blog on my myspace page. Thanks for the support guys.
Hi guys. We just wanted to say thanks again for your support with backpackers. We wouldn't have been able to make the show without the help of all the bands who donated thier tracks so thanks again for everything. Your music is awesome and it complemented our footage perfectly.
