Cowspace began as the name of a little girl's imaginary best friend. Jeff Cleveland, the bandleader, liked that name so much, he decided to name his band that.
Cowspace might very well be the nastiest jam band in Los Angeles. The lineup alone speaks volumes, consisting of 2 guitarists, bassist, drummer, keyboardist & lap-steel as well as 4 vocalists who harmonize like nobody's business. Having been a house band @ Brennan's Pub for almost 12 years also gives credibility to their staying power.
The heart of the band is Jeffrey Cleveland, who assembled this group of musical assassins that perform classic songs from Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Widespread Panic, Jerry Garcia, Motown & many others - this band ain't messin' around. They also perform Cleveland's originals (a new album to be released in a couple months), giving their audience a multitude of musical options to digest.
You can catch Cowspace every Wednesday @ Brennan's Pub - Home of the Turtle Races, the hottest collection of seasoned jamband musicians in Los Angeles. Once you get a taste of Cowspace, yo'll no longer think the grass is greener on the other side - this band is as good as it gets.
