Cpt. Spoon draws His inspiration predominantly from the mythical and heathenistic state of mind; the 'Dämmerung' or Twilight. In this swampy, sweaty region of the human intellect, ratio and insanity, love and hate, good and evil, real and fiction tend to dissolve in each other. Here their old meanings fade and new ones get interconnected. This 'sublime' world of left-over beings, unacknowledged by modernity, (nor by the cold utilitarianism of the enlightenment, nor by the over-consciousness of Romanticism) spawns it's own imagery: too real to forget, too vague to remember. If it's the cloak of truth that makes reality real, the fictional narrative, mirrored by the science of musical interpolation, is the Captain's 'cloaking device'. Showing us the ways in how to make authentic music without having to rely on overstressed patheticism, corny infantilism, or (classic) professionalism.
