Crackerbilly! Crackerbillys now have our Banjo Player, Hambone, back with us. Posted at 11:46 PM Nov 19 view more
We are a couple of homebrewers that started playing music. After along day of sitting around watching 20 gallons of beer boil, and 10+ pounds of meatpork loin on the smoker, we would build a fire and sit around and pretend to play some songs. Dave plays geetar and sings, Butch plays the washtub and sings. Butch is the self proclaimed Best Washtub player east of the Mississippi, and no one has yet to disprove his theory.
We have won many awards for our homebrewed beer at competitions around the state of Florida and even Nationally. Our favorite beers are hoppy and hoppier.
We started playing some open mic nights @ Whistle Stop Grille, Dunedin Brewery, and some others
Our friend Randy who hung out and listened to us around the fire, was now coming out with us to all of our open mic stuff and then one day he came home with a Mandolin, turns out he can really sing.
Hambone is a great local guitar picker, & member of the Tampa Fingerstyle Pickers Guild, and a regular at the Whistle Stop, And one day said he has been goofing off a little with the banjo, next thing we know, he is at all our practices and preforming with us ever since
Dave Morgan is a Hillbilly from Fairmont, WV and moved to Florida in 1988 and presently resides in Clearwater.
Butch Luxenberger is a Cracker from Pinellas Park, Florida and now resides in Oldsmar, hence the name of our band, Crackerbilly!
Our music is Upbeat and entertaining, don't play much sleepy time music. We might sing anything from, being a country boy, to moonshining, songs of Florida & more...
We cover Bluegrass, Old Time, Folk & Florida Folk, I guess you could say we are a fun Camp Fire Americana band
The current version of the Crackerbillies includes
Butch Luxenberger - Washtub Bass, Juice Harp, Jugs, Sings
Dave Morgan - Guitar, Sing
"Mando Rando" - Mandolin, Sing
Don "Hambone" Hanby - Banjo, Sings harmony
