"Drums are greater than the sum of their parts." This is the philosophy that Craig brings to his craft. Since the first days with his instrument, Craig has realized that drums are more than a collection of singular instruments. Rather, they are collectively a singular instrument. "It's more than just a philosophy though. Its a combination of the styles of music I've studied and listen to that allows me to be the musician I am." True: Craig's years of playing have taken him through many genres... symphonic, ochestral, jazz, stage musicals, world music, blues, heavy metal, and good old rock and roll. Being able to draw from these different musical stylings is what makes Craig the astute, dynamic, musical drummer he is. This combination is the manifestation of the philosophy and experience that he shares with his audience. Others agree... world class jazz guitarist and sitarist Jay Kishor (Stanley Jordan, Annapoorna Devi) says...
"Craig Carmen is one of those percussionists equally adept in the more mainstream genres as well as more technically demanding forms. He is a rare-breed musician who has an understanding of percussive finesse and a sense of touch. Its always a personal joy to play with Craig."
Hello lovely Marylanders! It's been ages since I've seen most of you. I miss Charm City...Just thought I'd drop a quick line and let you know I'll be playing at the 13th floor (one chase street, in the belvedere hotel) Thursday, Sept. 4 from 10-1am, with my wonderful Boston band, The Bon Ton Parade.
