Bio
I am probably best known for my work in "Odds". We were labeled a post-punk, powerpop, pomo... um...band from Vancouver BC that formed in '87, made its first record in '91, made a few more then stopped in about 2000. If there had been a "myspace" back then our friends would have had really interesting pictures and icons. I went on to become a serial collaborator and practitioner of the creative "grapeshot theory" -- just keep firing and at least one ship will sink. You can find out about all the shots that put a hole in the hull at craignorthey.com. There are enough records, songs, soundtracks and scores to occupy you with the Kevin Bacon game for at least 15 minutes. The stuff that fell into the water and is lying on the bottom will be found here for now. I'll keep rotating the four pieces of music as quickly as I can. It will be more like picking at twilight through the remains of a drunken garage sale than it will be a stroll through my vain little art gallery. If you find something you like...just take it. The dude is asleep. Could you tell Kevin Bacon that I have now joined "the New Odds" and the snake is finally eating its tail. Our latest record "Cheerleader" came out in 2008 on Pheromone Recordings. Influences
Most all music even if I don't like it. I have played music I didn't like and that is what makes me keep digging down harder to define what it is I do like. Down near my musical nuts live the Beatles, the Stones, the Who, the Otis Redding and any K-Tel classic where R&B crossed over to pop. Those were the gateway bands. Christ...this could go on forever...guitar players alone...just look at everybody else's lists...the good ones are all there. In truth you're probably most influenced by the musicians you meet and play with. My mom was/is a great classical violinist who skipped rock entirely so Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King", Khatchaturian's "Sabre Dance", and a weird "Guitars of Africa" record had to combine in my head to create the CCR record I never had. I have taken old guitars and pretty much always played them into a Vox amplifier. If you want to sound like me just use the same equipment, don't take any lessons and put gaffers tape on your fingers. Its better to be like yourself but if you insist you can get the CD's by ..clicking here.. and just start imitating me like I imitated so many others. -
