Bio
Let me say from the start that I am a fortunate man. I have had the chance to travel, to see places that I have dreamed about all of my life. I have walked through the streets of Moscow, been on safari in Kenya, and traveled throughout Europe. I was born and raised in Dunfermline Scotland. I was active in the scouting movement, which gave me my first opportunity to travel. In 1996 my work in the electronics industry took me to Dublin Ireland where I lived for six years. I took up the bodhran after I moved to Ireland and spent six years playing traditional music with some of the best young trad musicians in Ireland. Many of my friends can be found playing in celtic powerhouse bands including Danú, The Fureys, Grada and the Eileen Ivers Band. I now live in Fort Worth Texas with my wife Deanna and our dogs, Harold and Maude. As well as being a bodhran player I am also a photographer, Deanna and I have had a lot of fun putting together a little photography business. We continue to branch out into new art shows, which when added to our many Celtic Festivals keep us pretty busy. The photographs have proven to be very popular and our booth is always full of people, many of whom come back year after year to buy our work. It is really gratifying when folks tell us how our work has touched them. THE PHOTOGRAPHY WEBSITE IS FINALLY UP: www.craigscotland.com At present I am playing with the band Shift, we play many of the fine Irish pubs in the Dallas Metroplex and Celtic Festivals throughout Texas. http://www.goodantmedia.com/shift .. .. .. ...... Poem cum song 5 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my Blog for details):
STATE TO STATE
(TUNE:

From Sydney Town,
In uni. break,
I drove out west
To earnings make
Onion picking,
On the fields
Of Echuca,
That year’s yields.
After day’s work,
From Y.H.A.,
A group of us
Would not delay
To walk on down
To the dirt rim
Of the Murray,
For a cool swim.
On one such day,
I do declare,
Some three of us
Had a big dare
To swim across,
From state to state,
The wide Murray -
I took the bait.
Yes, foolishly,
I took the bait -
A choice that I
Would come to hate,
For I almost
Did drown that date,
Making the swim
From state to state.
