   About Crayfish

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6!

From their conception in 2000 in the cotswold town of Cirencester, Crayfish have aimed to be a one-gig grunge band. They achieved this so well that all the members left leaving singer/guitarist Matt Aldis to his own sordid devices. Months past and Crayfish reformed with a new agenda. One that would ensure that they would be hailed as the worst band in the west-country. Thankfully (though begrudgingly for Matt) this goal seemed an impossible task and eventually they bit the bullet and tried to make something of themselves. 2003: So Matt, Felix (bass) and Rupert (drums) took on the task of creating a gargantuan, behemoth-like sound, down tuned everything to destruction and recorded it under the influence of a lot of alcohol and drugs. The results were the foetal seed of a half-arsed good idea. The introduction of J Evans on lead guitar created aspirations for something better, and though still quite begrudgingly, Matt the leader (ha ha ha) of the band, influenced by bands such as Black Label Society, Alice In Chains, The Meat Puppets and Frank Zappa thought it was time to take the group in a weird and interesting new detuned direction. 2004 saw them play a host of venues, mostly around Swindon and Cheltenham but most notably, the TMF festival where they were supporting stage headliners Breed 77 and Winnebago Deal. Aspirations include getting our forthcoming album finished (it's doing a good impersonation of Chinese Democracy right now), many more dates in London and further afield, and playing some more summer festivals. The main aim, however is to get a gig with guitarist supremo Adam Bomb (he has to be seen to be believed). Crayfish hope that, whoever you are, youll find something in our music you appreciate, even if we are all ghastly people.

Boy's what happening, haven't seen any of you for ages. I keep checking here for dates, I hope you're all doing ok.
If anyone is free tomorrow, go see what you think of Merricks new drummer and the new tracks they are playing.
Catch you soon, love you all.

MERRICK will be rockin' out at The Fleece in good old Bristol tomorrow night 30th April.

You'll find them at number 1 on my friends list. If you haven't heard them before, pop over for a listen.

Here's a review of their 9th March gig @ The Louisiana, penned by Bridge Williams.

"Merrick have a classic quality to them without sounding outdated and act as a refreshing antidote to popular, watered down, skatepark metal. This is a mature band that belongs in the sweaty basement of a backstreet pub closing for the local fightclub- most probably hosted by the frontman Marco who looks like a bruiser of a man; a bald-headed hulking mass that rocks and sways to the music. But, like the bands namesake he is not what he may seem. He is a genuine guy whose humour and easy manner instantly win the crowd over. Particularly in dueting with the 'South Park' figurine Timmy for the song of the same name. He is the welcome antithesis of the skin-tight-bubblegum-mums-eyeliner front man whose pocket money goes on four haircuts in four shades of black. Oh no, for though his voice hits tuneful, Maynard melodies he will instantaneously release absolute, lung defiling death-roars and screams which lead me suspect that he eats distortion pedals for breakfast. This band has a proficiency and professionalism in their playing without sacrificing raw energy, which in combination creates a flawless wall of noise, dynamic in its Tool-esque stop/start rhythms and unrelenting at the hands of their new drummer Mark Liley whose double bass pedalling provoked a cheer in itself.
They hit the atmospheric low dischordancy of Deftones and the speed garage riffery

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS, ITS NOT SPAM !

Right then i'm e-mailing you because im trying to get as many people as possible together to go to the The 2 pigs in cheltenham this saturday (1st sep).

Now as you may have heard Dan Lee's just joined Irritant from Gloucester, and this monday theyve gone on their first uk tour. And funnily enough there last gig is this saturday.

! The serious bit !

Cheltenham is easily accessable for most of us, so their arent really any reasons why people cant go to see the band play.
And i'll put it like this, Dans a bloody good bloke and theirs enough people who know him as a mate and as a musician. and to be completly honist if Dan wasent their helping organising a band night for your band to play, he was either their next to you giving it his all, at the sound desk making sure you guys sounded as good as a pro could make you, in the crowd cheering you on or he was sat at his mixing desk recording your long awaited EP, pouring is time and efforts into making it sound the best he could make it.

Dans done alot supporting his local music scene, alot more than some people ( probably me included) so thets pay him back and go support him in his own neck of the woods, show him that his mates are backing him up as he's done for so many of us.

Theirs loads of people going who can drive and their's the 51 bus all day long and the national express to get you back in the late evening/early morning.

And if none of that as made you want to go, they've booked the 2 pigs afterwards for a mass welcome home party!

And for the very small minority of people who dont come without a good reason and moan about lack of local activities and music events, in a polite fashion, and i quote
" Get off your ass or shut the fuck up !"

Lots of heartfelt love

tom

p.s for those of you who dont know dan, he's lovely and cuddly, plus
