Crazy and the Crutch fromed in 2005 in Memphis, TN. Composed of just three pieces: guitar, bass and drumes, the trio covers a vast range of musical styles from classic rock and blues, all the way to funk and reggae flavored fair. You might even hear a little hint of country in certain areas.
Dave Kropf, on drums and percussion, brings a unique blend of intricate subtleties, relying heavily on his extensive knowledge of jazz and funk. He is also very well capable of the type of imrpovisation that makes the trio tastefully unpredictible in a live setting.
Jordan Garrison has no trouble holding down the low end with his enormous five-string bass. He hails from a much more self-taught background. Performing since the tender age of 6, this guy feels more at home on the bandstand than anywhere else. He's well versed in all styles, but shows a particulat shine for funk, popping, and slapping to great effect.
Zack Mack,, the youngest of the trio, comes from a place very similar to Jordan, schooled olny by listening to records of his favorite singers and guitar players (and even watching some of them in person). He's been on the guitar "seriously" since the age of 7. He approaches the instrument and his voice with a ferocious intent. In fact, through the course of a show, Zack is able to put himself through agony, heartbreak, and depression only to turn it into an hilarious display of comic relief.
Multi-purpous, all-around, universal ... However you say it, Crazy and the Crutch has it. A great live show that feels as much like a backyard BBQ as it does an arena show (and vice-versa).
