Two bodies were found Friday in the Frye Apartments in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood. The building, an old hotel, was converted into low-income apartments in the 1970s. Seattle homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious deaths of a man and a woman who were found lying face down on the kitchen floor of their apartment in Pioneer Square.
The manager of the Frye Apartments discovered the bodies about 2 p.m. Friday, said Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel. The manager told police he'd heard a dog barking inside the third-floor unit for several days and went to check on the residents; when he opened the door, he saw two bodies on the floor.
"It is a strange scene. We have very little to go on," Kappel said.
The victims are a 28-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, Kappel said. Their names have not been released.
The Frye Apartments, at Yesler Way and Third Avenue, is an old hotel that was converted into low-income apartments in the early 1970s.
Jaymie, who asked that her last name not be published, said she met the female victim 13 years ago at a homeless shelter.
"She's a computer genius, and she'll go out of her way to help anybody," Jaymie, 33, said of her friend. "She's a real sweetheart who would rather take on the world's problems than her own."
The woman recently got married at the King County Courthouse — which is directly across the street from the apartment building, Jaymie said.
