Committee to Regulate and Control Marijuana's Blurbs
About me:
OUR MARIJUANA LAWS DO NOT WORK

Every year in this country, more people are arrested for marijuana offenses than the populations of Las Vegas and Reno combined. Almost 90% of those arrested are arrested for simple possession. Yet, 35 years into the federal government's declaring "war" on otherwise law-abiding marijuana users, marijuana is still inexpensive, widely used, and available everywhere. You would be hard-pressed to find a bigger and more costly policy failure. And while we waste endless government resources prosecuting the war on marijuana, we create an illegal market that finances the activities of violent gangs and drug dealers at the same time. We're financing both sides of this idiotic war. Everyone loses.

Our laws do not work.

It's time to change the law.

And that's why we're here. We are the Committee to Regulate and Control Marijuana, a Nevada-based ballot action group dedicated to passing the marijuana initiative that will appear on the November 2006 ballot. Under our initiative, the possession and sale of small amounts of marijuana would be taken out of the unregulated, illegal market and put into a strictly regulated and taxed one.

Our laws do not work, and we're going to change the law.

But we need your help.

More information about the initiative can be found at our campaign Web site:

Please tell your friends about what we are trying to do. Help us pass the marijuana initiative. Register to vote, volunteer, donate.

And most importantly, please remember to vote on November 7.

Sincerely,

Neal Levine

Campaign Manager

P.S. Please be sure to spread the word about the campaign by putting us in your Top 8 group of friends.

Who I'd like to meet:

MPP is the largest marijuana policy reform organization in the United States. Founded in 1995, MPP works to minimize the harm associated with marijuana -- both the consumption of marijuana and the laws that are intended to prohibit its use. MPP believes that the greatest harm associated with marijuana is prison. To this end, MPP focuses on removing criminal penalties for marijuana use, with a particular emphasis on making marijuana medically available to seriously ill people who have the approval of their doctors. MPP doesn't encourage marijuana use. But our failed marijuana laws cost taxpayers billions of dollars a year, keep police from focusing on real crimes, and fail to keep marijuana away from kids. We believe it's time for a new approach-- taxation and regulation. Sincerely, The Marijuana Policy Project

well we tried but the real problem is that we all want to fight but not all want to vote. with only half the state voting it will be hard to get anything passed.
I voted and i hope we try again keep up the good fight

I was visibly disappointed when the results of Question 7 were projected. I want to commend everyone at CRCM for their campaign. The odds were definitely stacked against this question, but CRCM did a wonderful job. Your campaigns were brilliantly designed, honest, and reached a lot of voters who originally thought they would vote "no" on the question. You did a fantastic job. My only regret is not having helped out with the campaign more. Congrats on your efforts. We'll be waiting for the next time!

Damn straight we voted early and gave a huge YES on question 7! I agree with the earlier comment about alcohol and tobacco...marijuana does not kill! It's time to take personal responsibility back from the government and put it where it belongs...on the individual!
