Biography
Formed in Wellingborough, England, in 1999, CREECH (a word meaning 'weird and indescribable') began with two former members of punk rock band NUKEATEEN - Taz Cebula and Nick Iliffe. In August 2000 Tim O’neill joined on bass and they recorded their first EP titled 'ARROGANT CALL'.
Later that year Tim left and they decided to move country. By Christmas 2002 they had shipped themselves and their equipment all the way round the world to Melbourne, Australia.
Once in Melbourne, they started looking for new members. The first was a Bassist answering an ad in the local rag. Ron Curran, covered in tattoos, not looking for any particular style as long as it rocked hard, joined the next day.
It was decided to improve their sound further they would acquire a lead guitarist. One month later Ashley Spurrell joined, not only a gifted guitarist, but was also providing backing vocals for the harmonies Taz envisaged. Suddenly without warning tragedy struck and with a loss in the family, Nick returned to England.
For the next few years CREECH had many stand-in drummers. It wasn’t until 2004 that Roddy Scarr joined, his solid sense of time cementing an already tight lineup. Later that year CREECH recorded their first Australian EP titled 'PURE ROCK'.
In 2005 CREECH released their third EP 'TAKE IT ALL'. TAKE IT ALL received rave reviews from all over the world being used on several extreme sports shows. CREECH also made their first appearance on Australian national TV and released their highly acclaimed music video 'FAR TOO SOBER'.
In June 2006 CREECH went into Backbeach Studio with Producer Ren Parisi to record their first full-length album. CREECH elected to mix the album themselves and in October 2007 it was mastered at Gateway Mastering Studios in the US by Grammy award winning Adam Ayan.
In 2008 about to embark on a national tour to promote their first single, tragedy struck again. After breaking a vertebra during a show Taz was rushed to hospital. A subsequent diagnosis revealed a he had cancer and a tumor had eaten through his back bone. He was operated on the next day and began a long and painful course of chemotherapy.
2009, fully recovered CREECH are once again preparing to release their LONG overdue debut Album 'AWAY FROM HOME', this time with even more determination than ever.
