    Curt Iles Creekbank Stories's Interests
GeneralAs mentioned earlier, I love the outdoors and nature. Birds are a primary interest of mine with my favorites being wood ducks, whippoorwills, mockingbirds, and purple martins. I’ve always enjoyed sports. I am a lifelong LSU Tiger fan as well as a fan of both Louisiana College and McNeese State. I live and die with the Houston Astros which is a defining trait of my family.
MusicThis is a good question. I have eclectic tastes. My iPod has a little bit of everything on it. However, the groups/singers I like best are pretty consistent over the years: Van Morrison The Band/Levon Helm (Drummer for The Band) Lynyrd Skynyrd The Marshall Tucker Band Charlie Daniels The Allman Brothers/Dickie Betts guitarist for Allmans/Chuck Leavell, Allman’s keyboardist) Creedence Clearwater Revival/John Fogerty (Lead Singer) Jackson Browne, Robin Mark Bob Dylan Right now I’m enjoying the new CD by Levon Helm, “Dirt Famer.” I especially like the cut, “The Mountain.” It is a song about how a person can deeply love a place and feel deep sorrow to see it fade away. My favorite songs are : 1. I will arise and go to Jesus 2. The Night They Drove Ol’ Dixie Down 3. The Weight 4. How Great Thou Art 5. Simple Man (Skynyrd version) 6. I have decided to follow Jesus 7. The Wayfaring Stranger 8. Simple Man (Charlie Daniels version)
MoviesI do love movies. My favorites (not in a specific order) Field of Dreams, Bridge over the River Kwai, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Being There, The Sting, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Saving Pvt. Ryan, Life is Beautiful, The Quiet Man, Dances with Wolves
TelevisionHonestly, I don’t watch much TV. I’d rather read, visit, or be outside.
BooksI am an avid reader with a wide taste. Civil War History by Shelby Foote- I’ve read and re-read his three volume set. John Grisham- my favorites are Time to Kill and Runaway Jury. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell Leadership is an Art
HeroesMost of my heroes are people I’ve known personally. That is the best part of growing up in a rural community. My dad- Clayton Iles was, and is, my hero. He was just the man at home that others saw in public: a kind, fun, loving man. Ed King and Matt Farmer- Two Dry Creek dairy farmers taught me with their lives about how Christian men behaved. My sports heroes are varied: Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, Archie Manning, Terry Bradshaw, Hank Aaron.

Hi , keep dreaming on that new book , you got comming out with, I can,t wait. Im looking forward to getting it, I hope you and your family had a good Cristmas And New year. You mention one time that you taught school at Fairview Alpha. . That is where i lived growing up. That Zion Church their is where i went to growing up . My mother and daddy and my Baby is buried their. They lost the old church. It caught on fire and burnt down . But ,they built a another one ,is a beautiful churh, My son and his wife took me their on New years day to put flowers on their graves . My baby was 71/2 months old when he died . He would have been 47 years old if he had lived . (Crib dealth.)( Another hard time in my life.) The old house is still standing ther , Where me and Jesse got married 49 years ago. That sure brought back a lot of memories. We were were planing to renew our marriage in that house on April 5th. This year. If he had made it that long.God is helping me get through Jesse,s death.I know he is doing that .I know he in a good place. with help of my Church family.I go to Old Bethel Baptist church, close to where i live. It reminds me of the song ;The Little Church in the Wild Woods; I love it and all the people that go their. I better go , i feel like i have wrote a book . But, I hope you and your wife don,t mind. Some day I would Love to meet you and your wife in Person. My God Bless you and your Family.

Hey, Curt! Wanted to let you know that I had a neat "author experience" today. Chuck & I went downtown to lunch and walked around some of the shops. It was VERY strange to see my book in a store.....but gave me such a sense of accomplishment. What a blessing!! God really can do immeasurably more than we ever hope for or imagine sometimes.....
