Crescent and Shamrock was initially founded as a family band by Jennifer and her parents to play at music festivals and farmer's markets. The original name was "First, Steal a Chicken" after Perry's grandmother's gypsy cookbook in which nearly every recipe started with that phrase. The name was changed to Crescent and Shamrock when Jerry and Jennifer started introducing Middle Eastern music into the repertoire.
It's current incarnation now has Jennifer Olson playing a variety of stringed instruments - Celtic Harp, Hammered Dulcimer, Oud and Mandolin.
Jennifer's husband, Brian plays a variety of percussion instruments. Egyptian Tabla, Bodhran, Tar and Riq are his main instruments.
Perry Campbell, Jennifer's father, plays guitar and provides vocals for the group.
Jerry Fugate does percussion and Baglama Saz for the Middle Eastern flavor
Crescent and Shamrock maintains it's roots by performing mainly at music festivals. They have also been known to play at Farmer's markets, Renaissance Faires and Pirate Festivals.
The band plays a blend of traditional songs that have a wide range. Celtic, Middle Eastern, Turkish, Balkan and Greek are some of the styles that this dynamic band plays. Because of the Middle Eastern influence of the band, many of it's performances feature belly dancers.
