Crestview Trusts members all hail from parts near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It was there over ten years ago that they met and began playing in bands together. After several years of performing and recording in a variety of short-lived outfits, these four friends left town and dispersed. More recently they found themselves all in Toronto, and reminded of their shared love of bands like Talking Heads, XTC, The Flaming Lips, and The Notwist, they decided to join forces as crestview trust. Over the past three years of writing, rehearsing, performing, and recording the band has experimented by turning conventional pop songs inside-out, developing a unique music that stands out for its beautiful melodies, dynamic arrangements, and complex, dynamite rhythms.
This sound is captured powerfully on crestview trusts eponymous debut CD. Completed in April 2006, the eleven song-cycle features gorgeous vocals, soaring harmonies, and a succulent blend of organic and electronic instrumentation. Amid guitars, piano, banjo, and trumpet, digital groans, bleeps, and samples create layered textures, grafted onto pulsating drums, percussion and bubbling, dubby bass lines.
