In 1993, Crimson Ivy recorded Bloodlife, consisting of eight tracks examining relations amongst the silken dissimulation machine. Since Spiritual Vision in 1988 and the Existence EP in 1989 (both on Epithet Records), the melting vinyl of primary musical influences had now claimed a more unique ambiance. "When we made the Existence EP in a big studio, it was refreshing to have the music translate well from instrument to tape...with Bloodlife, we recorded in our own studio, but the equipment was more accessible to us, and the result I think is a better representation of the group's raw sound." Rusty recalls. "Being able to record in the comfort of your own space raises the level of intimacy each musician is able to bring to tape...” adds Karl.
From the out front full sound of Sometimes to the rhythmic undercurrents in Revolt, the Bloodlife album is a unique dark roast of techno, goth, metal and industrial java that stirs up a raw verve more common in rock bands...
