  • Bio

Hailing from Auckland, Crimson Rain embraces the post-grunge era with heavy distortions, elegant solos, head-banging riffs, rhythmic beats and the sound that will catch hold of your mind. Along with these attributes comes true passion for music, any music in general. The band started out in May 2010 when Pras K (vocals, guitar) and long time friend, Avi Pranish (lead guitar) decided to pursue on another musical journey having played in a number of different bands over the few years. Along with Ben Lee (Bass) and Matt Bunce (drums), Crimson Rain recorded their first EP 'One By One' in August 2010 with a local producer in Ben Ruegg. Their first demo single 'Break' received substantial airplay on social networking sites namely Reverbnation charts, Facebook, Youtube and MySpace. In addition, the band received numerous reviews and support within New Zealand, Malaysia (Pras's home country), Fiji (Avi's home country) and India. Since the release of their first EP, Crimson Rain has played a number of shows in Auckland, building their growing reputation and also working on a new sound that would take them to the next level. The band took a brief break after opening for Bollywood Rockstar Atif Aslam back in January 2011. After months of looking and searching, Crimson Rain has laid down a new track with local producer/genius.. Zorran Mendosa. The band spent a bit of time on preproduction, layering and making sure they brought out the sound they've always wanted. The Mask Within was released on the 31st of March online via Facebook and Reverbnation. The song has seen Crimson Rain step up to a new level and on path to a bright future having received positive reviews from music listeners. Each member of Crimson Rain contributes in different ways with influences ranging from Pop and Hardrock to softer sounds, namely Flamenco and Classical Music. On the back of this, Crimson Rain intends to record a full-length album and take their music on tour in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the rest of the world.

Meet Crimson Rain

Press: “The almost eerie, somehow space-filled, vox gives this tune real immensity. I especially like the mature huge feel and pace of this track, I also really like the mastering, and how all band members are seamlessly intertwined and yet have their own shining moments throughout. Awesome. The more I hear the more I want to hear, if this single is anything to go by, the next album is going to rule.” — CEOMong, Review on The Mask Within Single "A tantalisingly short, albeit wickedly sweet, album; laden with choppy bassy rhythmic bits and precise gax, all nicely mixed with some diverse vox. " — CEOMONG, muzic.net.nz "Crimson Rain, an Auckland based four-man band, established just five months ago (May 2010) and if its early achievements are any indication, it will flow into many parts of the world, immersing enthusiasts and fans in melody and rhythm." — Venkat Raman, Indian Newslink "Crimson Rain is one of the most outstanding rock bands I've come across in 2010, and are definitely worth the listen - especially if you like such bands as Agent and Shihad. " — SHADE, muzic.net.nz "Coming from diverse musical backgrounds, the sound is a funky blend of metal, rock, grunge, with a hint of classical and Flamenco thrown in to the mix. Their sound wasn’t as heavy as I’d been led to believe, but there is a metal attitude running through it (similar to Agent, but not quite as funk driven nor metally)." — Alistar Wickens, NZ Musician
