With a bright, danceable, and sometimes soothing sound fueled by Miami's musical melting pot, Florida’s new SINGER, SONGWRITER, ACTRESS is poised to become one of 2010's most unique and refreshing young artists.
Born Cristal Marie Cue to a Venezuelan mother and Cuban father, the 20-year-old entertainer has been honing her skills since her early childhood. With influences such as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, and Selena, Cristal has sculpted a diverse foundation as a triple threat.
At 16, Cristal knocked out Atlantic Records Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman with a remarkable a cappella performance of “Power Of Love” by Celine Dion. Promptly after the performance she was signed to Atlantic Records and began working on her debut album. During that time Cristal worked with talented producers, songwriters, and artists like: Scott Storch, Sean Garret, Ne-Yo, Jazzy Pha, B- Cox, Diane Warren, J.R. Rotem, David Banner, Chris Brown, Jim Jonsin, Pitbull, Ryan Leslie, and many more.
Creative differences caused Cristal and Atlantic Records to part ways in 2007, although the time spent with the label provided a great platform to develop as an artist. "Even though I had been vocally trained by Lisa DiMilo and Betty Wright I had never recorded a song in the studio before my deal." -Cristal explains.
During the recording process of her Atlantic album, she began working with some of the most creative people in the music industry. It has helped her to grasp more of what her identity is as an entertainer.
To add to her resume, Cristal landed her 1st roll as the lead actress in Chris Brown’s music video “Kiss Kiss” feat T-Pain. Cristal was also featured on Atlantic Recording artist Cupid’s single “Do Your Dance.” You may have also seen Cristal as a host for Flow TV on Comcast Television.
Cristal is currently working closely with her management on building her brand and creating more material and content to share with the world. Learning from some of the best songwriters in the music industry, she has also become a great songwriter and vocal producer. Cristal explains,
"Through songwriting, I've been able to better translate my direction musically."
Cristal describes her music as being "Sonically beautiful; it has a nice, fresh, but relatable vibe."
In Cristal’s music, she speaks on personal experiences as well as the experiences of those who she’s surrounded by. “I speak on love most of all, but we all know love is a long story…”
“My music is what you would rock on your iPod when you want to dance or get that feel good vibe to let your fears and problems go.”
