My name is Chris, but I somehow started getting called C-Rock; C for Chris, Rock for my undying love of all of the rock-based music I listen to. I am currently the producer of my own recording project, entitled C-Rock Independent Recordings. This is the unofficial record label for myself, and for Rob Stepanek (aka Snide).
I have always loved music, and one day I picked up a guitar and started playing. Ever since that day, I've longed to create music that anyone could enjoy. My songs come from my heart, as well as the experiences of me and my friends. Every song I write is a story and a lot of times, we can all learn something from the lyrics. All the experiences we go through in life are the most important things we'll ever know.
I'm currently not signed to a record label although I have written, played, and recorded at least 50 songs all by myself. The quality isn't always the greatest and at times you can hear the mistakes I make during the songs, but I tend to think that a natural sound adds to the beauty of my music. Throughout the years I have reminded myself that, even though the music industry is a gold mine, I am not in it for the money. It's gonna be great to pay the bills and have my own house and be able to buy whatever I want or need, but most of the money I earn when I'm older will be put to good uses, like charities and AIDS research and cancer studies, as well as helping out my closest friends and family when they are in a tight spot. Money, sadly makes the world go 'round, but that doesn't mean it has to rule our lives. Greed is a terrible, terrible thing. I'm not gonna buy 6 houses and 20 cars and 4 pools that I'll never live in or drive or swim in. I'm gonna get the basics, and maybe a little more. Yeah, I'll buy things I don't need, like a decal sticker for my car or a new stereo system, but for the most part, I'm gonna live like I always have. Celebrity status wouldn't change a thing for me, I'm damn determined about that!
I've played a few live shows where I can, although I haven't gone on tour or been able to promote myself enough yet. My biggest show so far was about 200 people, and it was a 3-song setlist, two of which were Alkaline Trio covers. That show was my very first live performance, at the Coffee House event at Pocono Mountain West High School, in March of '09. Since then I have played live a few more times, but only in front of family and friends. I aim to play in every place I can to promote my talents and maybe get a few fans along the way.
I'd like to take this time out to thank each and every one of my friends and family, who have supported me in all that I've done, be it musical or anything else. Mom, you're my biggest hero. Marc, you showed me so many times that I had some talent, and I hadn't realized it until I started the C-Rock project. Tim, as much as you probably don't know, I thank you for keeping me in line. Ariana, sis, thanks for kicking my ass each day to remind me of what life is truly about. John, my best friend, practically my brother, thanks for being there, through the thick of things, and teaching me how to be strong. And anyone else I haven't mentioned, I thank you just for being involved. I thank all my fans for listening, and I thank anyone who took the time to criticize my music, whether good or bad. I need as much help as I can get to improve.
