Influences
Too many to mention really but not a lot of them showing too much these days!
Crokodile Tears are an electro/rock/pyschedelic folk duo from Coventry.
They have released several albums and E. P.'s in England and regard themselves as, 'as English as tea'. Their, 'My Favourite Weather-girl' about Central T. V.'s Charlie Neil is championed by the lady herself and is featured on several fan sites as well as Central T. V.'s.
Many of singer/guitarist Christopher Sidwell's songs are observational and are based on his life growing up in Coventry. New song,'Gullibles Travels (Coventry song)' is a trawl through Chris's favourite bits of the city and another, 'Cathedral Lanes' is about him being 'dumped' in the city-centre shopping arcade of that name.
Multi-instrumentalist Alf Hardy has produced and played on albums with Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom.
The duo have recorded with fellow Coventry musicians the Ripps, guitarist/producer Paul Sampson, former Hawkwind guitarist Jerry Richards, ex-Tubilah Dog Banni & Coventry's very own 'Ringo', Robin Hill on drums.
Their most recent album, 'Gullibles Travels' is available through Holland's Catapilla distribution & for download through i Tunes.
The bands '60's Guitar' video shot by Jilted John/John Shuttleworth's Graham Fellows is available to view or download here.
The '60's Guitar video was a finalist in last years Canadian cravefest.com Internal video awards where it finished 9th. in the heats for the best song / most original video categories and number ten for the best video.
The band are currently recording what could be their last album, 'Words of Wisdom' and are also playing the odd gig sometimes as a trio possibly featuring an extra guitarist, Jerry Richards or singer Amy McGuigan. The new album has a cover shot of Chris's Grandaughter, Charlie-Morgan & will be dedicated to the Croks' original lead guitarist the 'Amazing' Gordoni Francis who sadly passed away last year.
The most recent albums, 'Gullibles Travels' and 'Go for the jugular' (released on 1st. November 2009) are available to download from itunes;

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

Here's the other winning video for a Crokodile Tears song - this one's called,'Gingernuts' and was made by pupils from my own school (Alice Stevens - fix!);

'Poster boys' shock in Clown Magazine review of the Croks;
Dylan Thompson
Crokodile Tears are unlikely contenders for being poster boys of pop but they
are an interesting and talented contenders for music making, which is far better than just being pretty boys. The best way to describe Crokodile Tears are an alternative psychedelic pop band, and while songs like Punch and Judy and Noddy need time to adjust your sense of hearing especially if you listen to a lot of computer sequenced pop music, and then you hear the genius of this talented group. When the album called Gullible’s Travels proceeds songs like For No One are more mature and serious, but then you are plunged into electro-pop world in the next one Strawberry Thief. So what you end-up after you’ve listened to this fourteen songs album is music that has taken you on an adventure of different tastes that challenge your tastes that’s as good as Egg & Chips! Better than being whacked over the head by Sheffield Steel!
hm.. yes... I've only just started writing music. Been treading the boards all my life until now. You will hopefully hear more from me soon. Keep up your good work!
Just my size! I have just bought, Paul has bought me I mean, some faux UG boods from ALDI, they are sick. That lady can borrow them if she likes. Now I must mop the kitchen floor, some naughty person has dropped a lot of chips and not picked them up.
