"On my way home one day I messaged a new mate-Jerry-and asked, "Hey, want to perform for the Monash Street Carnival?" and that's how it all started.". SD, April 1st, 2008. A meeting the day after brought together four distinct musicians from very different backgrounds. Shaneil Devaser, hailing from Jesselton, Sabah on vocals and guitars; Jeremiah Abraham, a local boy from Petaling Jaya, Selangor on guitars and vocals; Tristan Devadason, born in Ipoh, Perak on bass and Edwin Lai, our little Asian friend from Johor Bahru, Johor on drums. Hence, Crossing Boundaries was formed and we started performing almost immediately playing numerous gigs, both acoustic and full-band, in, around and for our university, Monash University Malaysia. And we secured our small, yet important market. Our home-base market. But in days to come, Edwin Lai, our original drummer, had to leave for Australia and we went through a metamorphosis of sorts. We recruited Rashaad Ali, a mate of Tristan's, to be on drums and percussions and soldiered on playing even more gigs both inside and outside university. Our distinctive blend of The Beatles, Oasis, Nirvana, Silverchair, Foo Fighters and many others influences immediately spoke to a crowd longing for some straight up rock and roll. And our market expanded alongside it. We then started recording the originals we had been writing and playing, namely Thing and Header, on GarageBand, to give out as promotional singles and continued playing more shows further expanding our horizons to the entirety of Selangor and abroad. To name a few songs under Crossing Boundaries, we have Thing, I'm Sorry, Sad Song, Header and Goodbye, Goodnight; every song portraying a certain state of mind, every song giving a distinctive blend of our numerous influences and original ideas, every song interplaying with each other to tell a story and most importantly, every song not sounding like the last. We started recording our songs at Pulse Soundworks early 2011. On July 5th, 2011, we released our single Thing onto the airways championing it on the Traxx Upstage Charts, using it for our music video for the Open4Incubus contest and releasing it to the masses for online streaming via emails, Facebook, MySpace, ReverbNation, Twitter and YouTube. On August 6th, 2011, we launched our debut album at Homegrown Space and we are now in the midst of touring and heavy promotions with weighty emphasis on the utilization of acoustic gigs and social media. Limited CDs are available at Rock Corner for RM19.99. Join the Revolution.
