Crossing The Pond may soon be recognized for bringing its timely mixture of Cape Breton, Irish and English music to the world's attention. They have uncovered the wealth of soulful music that has accumulated over the centuries, making the music their own with a style that is as exhilarating as it is definitive.
Although Crossing the Pond can be as traditional sounding as any acoustic trio, the band’s repertoire is extremely varied, laced with Cape Breton, Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English compositions and songs from tradition.
Crossing The Pond were formed from the ranks of the top folk musicians in New England, bringing together musicians such as guitarist Mark Vocca, fiddler Adam R. Sweet, and tenor banjoist Jim Bunting each with a musical background steeped in Celtic music stylings.
All band members are on-call session musicians in constant demand by the Pioneer Valley's mainstream folk and world music ensembles; yet all the while, Crossing The Pond's recordings have virtually defined the "American" style. These gifted musicians have joined together under a name that salutes the Pioneer Valley, creating an all-American sound. Crossing The Pond's talents have been celebrated, literally, around the state, but the band’s appeal is as basic as a small-town pub.
