    Morceau d'Apprenti

    Apprentice Piece, Pezzo di apprendista,
    Lehrlingstück, Pedazo de aprendi
    z.

    L'Apprenti

    The Apprentice
presents this work wordless, naive, and among a silent choir
(a collected choir of people who are energetically and physically present but
sonically null.) I am learning to be as an apprentice.

Now we only need a few more votes to get to the TOP 8 -
and get ourselves a nice gig!

And just in in case you did not already vote, please give us these 2 minutes and do it here!

Danke.

  • Monday Monday

MondayMonday wishes all belated and folky 2010  as Central London's best Monday Folk Night goes bouncing into the new year with two exciting shows lined up in February..

On 1st February we have Oliver Talkes and Matthew Ord at The Wilmington Arms. Until recently Oliver (See www.myspace.com/olivertalkes) was the front man of The Southern Tenant Folk Union and here will be performing his own material. Matthew  (See www.myspace.com/mattheword) is a London based singer and guitarist with a fresh take on the traditional music of the British Isles and North America.

Then on the 15th we have a special show at Camden's Green Note featuring Helskinki based Harp Player Lily Neill and support from London based Guitarist and Singer Paul Micklethwaite (See http://www.myspace.com/paulmicklethwaite) who will open the evening.

Lily Neill is a rising star in the world of harp playing.  By successfully melding her own compositions with traditional music from Scottish, Irish and other folk repertoires, she has created a style and sound that is unique and melodious with a wide base of musical influences.  See www.lilyneill.com for more details.
NB Lily will also be featured as a special guest opening the proceedings on the 1st Feb in advance of her headline date at the Green Note.

    Cross Road Blues
by David Walter Hall / music by Michael McHale
    An epic new stage show

Brutal, poetic and ultimately devastating, Cross Road Blues recreates one of the most compelling myths in American music: Robert Johnson’s alleged pact with the devil, hatched out at a crossroads one dark Mississippi midnight.

First performed as a student two-hander in 2003, and later receiving five-star reviews and sell out crowds at the Edinburgh fringe in 2005, the play has now been reinvented on an operatic scale. A new version, with the addition of an expansive choral score, performed by a twenty-voice choir accompanied by a six-piece acoustic blues ensemble was first performed at the Hackney Empire on 16th July 2009.

Watch this space to find out where you can see it next.
