The Crosstown Blues Band was formed in the fall of 1999 by three veterans of the Cincinnati music scene. Their mutual love and respect for Blues and R&B brought them together to assemble what has evolved into one of the tightest and most enjoyable Blues units in the region.
Taking equal parts Memphis, Chicago, Texas, New Orleans, Late 60’s era London, and even a taste of Nashville, they cook up a gumbo that has become known in this part of the world as “Cincinnati Blues”.
The trio is fronted by bassist Mark Kline whose smoooooth vocal stylings and funky bottom end keep the R&B feel happenin’ and the audiences movin’.
The kit is manned by long time local blues veteran Mike Singer, “The King of Swing”! One of the finest drummers in the area, Mike is always on the money keepin’ the blues groove right on time.
The guitar chores are handled ably by the always tasteful, always toneful Paul “Slidelick” Weidlich who covers the rhythm and lead guitar duties as well as throwing in the occasional taste of his trademark bottleneck slide talents.
Focusing on Blues Standards by the likes of B.B., Freddie, and Albert King, Little Willie John, and Robert Johnson the band also covers the more contemporary ground of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Little Feat and The Allman Brothers Band among others. A few CTBB originals usually find their way into the evening’s mix.
