Crown Prosecution have been compared to the likes of Portishead, Garbage and the Police but they have a unique sound which is hard to define and play a varied set.
Crown Prosecution have disbanded. They played their last gig on Saturday 6th September 2008 at a festival near bristol. The line-up was Menekse Meech (vocals), Chris Lipscombe (electric guitar), Jon Ramage (electric bass), James Knight (drum kit). The former members will consider big-money offers to re-form.

The Atomic Rays couldn't get arrested at The Reckless Engineer!
Well not so far, anyway...
Despite some fantastic turnouts at The Prom, The Cat and The Bunch of Grapes etc, we just don't seem to get more than a small (but beautifully formed) crowd at The Pub Opposite Temple Meads.
Well, we're there (The Reckless Engineer, that is) on Friday (25/4/08) and its free.
Just to let you know about an extra-special New Root gig on Saturday 31st May @ The Croft, Bristol.
We're doing a headline set featuring Visual Projections from VJ James Bragg and everyone gets a FREE copy of our new 'Sick of Me' EP on the door. Venue Magazine described it as '...an extraordinary sound...a sort of power pop/goth/rock opera hybrid...the most exhilarating thing we've heard all week'.
There also support from Sally-Anne Langton - 'one of Bristol's most promising singer/songwriters' - plus Special Guests. All for £5. You can buy tickets in advance from www. thenewroot. com
Thanks and hopefully see you there on Sat 31st May!
The Basement Launch Party on Saturday 15 ..he Basement @ Kalabash, in conjunction with Axiom Live Music, is launching regular Friday + Saturday Live Music nights in style with the following line-up…
Sat 15 Dec 2007: LeScour / Olympic Lifts + DJ sets The Basement @ Kalabash, Stokes Croft, BS6 5RW. Bristol. 8.00pm FREE ENTRY
LeScour: Universally highly regarded, this Bristolian three-piece draw on a wide spectrum of influences such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Portishead, Guillemots, Bloc Party, We Are Scientists and Mogwai. Bold, epic, soulful, emotional, intense, and uplifting; LeScour are eminently talented and inevitably destined for great things.
Lescour will be launching their latest EP ‘Entertainment For The Fool’ feat. ‘Talk’, their stand-out signature track. www.myspace.com/lescourband
Olympic Lifts: Are a hip-hop, rock, poptastic assault on the ears; described as "Great. Funny, catchy and a sweet punch in the face to boot" by Snow Patrol front man Gary Lightbody.
White boys from Belfast, using hip-hop as a major influence to create their unique new sound, they lashed beats together and infused contraband Samples all thrashed out on a battered old computer that they’d blagged, with no inkling or care for how ‘regular people’ go about such tasks… their lack of respect for the technology they were abusing helped contribute to a sound that no one has ever heard before or since.
Then they took it to the stage and things got exciting. The performances were legendary… Explosive energy and presence coupled with the party sound they had welded together, came at audiences like a Molotov Cocktail with the word genius branded on it…
These rapscallions will be DJing before and after their live set… technology is clearly now their friend! www.myspace.com/olympiclifts
This is their first UK tour since touring with Lo-Fidelity AllStars and Ugly Duckling with their
Just to let you know The Astonishing Atomic Rays Astonishing Xmas Show (TM) will be at The Reckless Engineer on Friday 14/12/07 - admission free (well it is Christmas).
Please note that The Astonishing Atomic Rays Astonishing Xmas Show (TM) will be fairly similar to our normal (astonishing) shows but with the addition of:
1) Christmas cheer 2) That Slade song 3) Perhaps a piece of tinsel stuck to Sir Roof's keyboards
Not bad, though?
And if you haven't seen us in a while there's plenty of new (to us) stuff being played so come along even if you're a bit "Bah! Humbug!" about the whole festive business. They do sell beer, after all...
Hope to see you there!
Ray Gunn (The Atomic Rays liaison with The Outside World)
