Interests

  • General

My interests vary from time to time. Overall, I like hitting classic car shows, seeing comedy shows, getting out and being around people (and then wishing I hadn't later on), going to the beach, reading, LOVE writing, wandering around and exploring different places, people-watching, and trying new things...

  • Music

I listen to just about anything except country and hip-hop/rap. I'm generally not loyal to any one band or artist, but there are a few I can hear any of their songs and enjoy, no matter what. Those people/bands would be, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, and Sade. I also like Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Beatles, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, Heart (of the 70s), - but not quite as much as the artists mentioned previously. Some of the more modern bands/artists (and by artists I truly mean it, not to be synonymous with "performers") I like are The Killers, The Mars Volta, Yellowcard, AFI and Kimya Dawson. I LOVE 80s music of all kinds.....

  • Movies

I usually tend to go more for comedies, and I'm not a fan of horror movies at all - and not because they're scary...because they're poorly written. The following are some of my favorites. Lady in the Water, Hot Rod, Across the Universe, The Goonies, Waiting, A Bronx Tale, The Shawshank Redemption, Grandma's Boy, The Virgin Suicides
    ... and other spellbinding classics...

  • Television

I no longer watch TV. I do love the original Twilight Zone series, though...

  • Books

The Book of Secrets by Deepak Chopra, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Wherever You Go There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Emotional Unavailability by Bryn C. Collins, Witch Baby by Francesca Lia Block, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

    Loved Lyrics

Touch my tears with your lips. Touch my world with your fingertips.
    - Queen's Who Wants to Live Forever

All of life is in one drop of the ocean waiting to go home, just waiting to go home. And if the moon can turn the tides it can pull the tears and take them from our eyes, and make them into monsoons
    - Jack Johnson's Monsoon

Once I rose above the noise and confusion just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion. I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high. Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man. Though my mind could think I still was a mad man.
    - Kansas's Carry On Wayward Son

When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side of the road, turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky. And I do this to remind me that I'm really, really tiny in the grand scheme of things. And sometimes this terrifies me.
    - Kimya Dawson's I Like Giants

We're burning down the highway skyline on the back of a hurricane that started turning when you were young.
    - The Killers' When You Were Young

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted. She got the Mercedes Benz. She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends. How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.
    - Eagles's Hotel California

All I know is everything is not as it's sold. But the more I grow the less I know. And I have lived so many lives, though I'm not old. And the more I see, the less I grow. The fewer the seeds the more I sow.
    - Nelly Furtado's Try

About me:

Let's see...about me - I'm Victoria! I'm a Florida native - born and raised in Palm Beach County. I'm a little on the eccentric side, really love to laugh, intelligent, pretty witty, caring, easy-going, very descriptive, especially in writing, level-headed, intuitive, and an old soul.

I'm a junior at FAU, majoring in Secondary Education - that means I'm going to teach high school or middle school, and it also means I still have another couple of years of schooling before I do that. I want to teach English...just in case you were wondering. I'm pretty sure you were. I have plenty more to say, but more than half of the people who visit this page don't read anyway. So if you really want to know something more about me...just ask.

The end of summer is almost here and there is a slight change in the air. The breeze now blows from the northwest and slowly the methodical afternoon rains will subside to periodic storms of a different sort…hailing crystalline skies and the subtle South Florida fall will arrive for you and me to explore.  I am looking forward to that with immeasurable anticipation!!!  :)

I wanted to share with all of you this beautiful story...it makes you stop and think...even though we may think of each other often we do not always take the time to let someone know how much they mean to us...so I want all of you to know I love you dearly, think of you often and want you to know that your friendship has truly enrichened my life and I feel very blessed for knowing each of you...

Each year he sent her roses,

And the note would always say,

I love you even more this year,

Than last year on this day.

My love for you will always grow,

    With every passing year.'

She knew this was the last time

    That the roses would appear.

    She thought, he ordered roses

    In advance before this day.

Her loving husband did not know,

    That he would pass away.

    He always
    liked to do things early,

    Way before the time.

Then, if he got too busy,

    Everything would work out fine.

    She trimmed the stems and

Placed them in a very special vase.

    Then, sat the vase beside

The portrait of his smiling face.

    She would sit for hours,

    In her husband's favorite chair.

    While staring at his picture,

    And the roses sitting there.

A year went by, and it was

    To live without her mate..

    With loneliness and solitude,

    That had become her fate.

    Then, the very hour,

    The doorbell rang, and there

Were roses sitting by her door.

    She brought the roses in,

And then just looked at them in shock.

Then, went to get the telephone,

    To call the florist shop.

The owner answered, and she asked him,

If he would explain, Why would someone would

    do this to her,

Hello love... I am doing good.  I have to go to therapy everyday at Wellington Regional Hosp.  and it is sucking the life out of me! I have to go and have treatment for lymphedema.  They do manual drainage and then wrap my leg from my toes to my hip in about 20 pounds of foam and bandages.  It is no fun!!  Plus in this disgusting August heat it makes me super miserable!  But... I should only have to do it for another month or so.  How are you doing?  Happy the kiddies are back in school? :)
