Where do I begin, when speaking about me, ..Crucial... A Poet who is Blessed each day I wake, at another chance for me to get it right, and even more to write about my experiences, whether Good, Bad, or Indifferent. .... Poetry is Me, and I am definitely Poetry. I also am the current Host of the Oldest, Longest, Running Poetry Venue here in the City of Philly called "Panoramic Poetry."
Poetry and I, have always had a relationship, it..s just that in the beginning I didn..t accept Poetry for what she represented in my life. Poetry was always there for me, when I needed to retreat to a place of privacy, to totally become consumed in my thoughts, and better understand, and then eventually deal with what was going on in my life. In my Formative Years, all the way through College, I had always had Football as my way of expressing my frustrations, as well as my joy, being Blessed to be good enough to have Football take me through College was an experience. But upon graduation, and completion of my Football playing days, is when Poetry emerged more in my life, as the only way for me to express what I truly felt deep within.......
Still wasn..t comfortable enough to share my Poetic Art publicly, but the gift inside of me was becoming stronger, to where in my daily routine, I always needed to write, or had a deep urge to create via Pen and Paper, in the form of a Poetic Prose. So write is what I did, filling up my Journals with my Poetic Perspective, but it wasn..t until I met this Progressive Woman named Ms. J. Dean, and within our relationship, Love, along with our feelings grew, and trust between us became strong, to where I trusted her in my place alone, and like any Woman I guess, she started to check things out when I was away, and she eventually found my Poetry Journals, and once she started reading my Poetic Stylings, she became my Number One, and First Real Fan of my Poetry, and she continually pushed me to get out and check out the Poetry Venues here in the city of Philadelphia, with hopes of encouraging me to get up and perform in the end.
But in time our relationship ended, but her support for my Poetry never wavered, even after we broke up, to just become friends. And if you ever heard that saying when one door closes, another door opens.... Well, that..s what happened..... I found courage finally, with the end of our relationship, to follow up, and see where this Poetry could lead me. So I started to check out the Poetry Venues here in Philly, still wouldn..t sign up, but at least finally I was out there following my Poetic Compass. To where finally I signed up on the Open-Mic List to perform at WarmDaddy..s, which was being hosted by The Arpeggio Jazz Band at the time, but it took me until my 5th time coming out, before I was finally called up to perform, and from there it has Been On!!! Which led me to ..Blue Funk.. and performing there, Thanks Johnnie B., for giving me that chance, to represent on the same stage as Gil Scott Heron that night. Then of course there is Panoramic Poetry thru October Gallery, Jus Words @ Dowling's Palace, Poetry @ Art Noir, Speak to Me @ The Clef Club, First Friday..s with Sista Azziza, & Mantra...... Then there is Zion Train @ Pearl Of Africa, Say Word @ The Arts Garage, as well as Vice Verse @ The Arts Garage, then there is Words & Rhythm @ The African American Art Museum, and many other venues that are blowing up here in the City of Philly. Not to mention being fortunate to travel outside of PA, to other states where I have been asked to perform my Poetry.
So as the Host of the Poetry Venue here in Philladelphia called "Panoramic Poetry" which is sponsored thru October Gallery. It happens ever 2nd & 3rd Friday of EVERY Month, so please check my Calendar, to come out to enjoy the show, or to perform.
As well as Host of "Poetry & Praise - Café Zion" which is every First Saturday of the Month @ 15th & Lombard Street - Wesley AME Zion Church, from 5pm to 9pm. Live Band, Food, & Just a Good Time.
So now, I will follow this gift of Poetry where she may lead me, humbled to have a audience that will listen, and a venue to perform my craft.

Thanks for the info on the Poetry Idol Competition... I will probably buy a ticket at the door and enjoy the war of words from a safe distance... Or start to do some serious writing :-) But more than likely it will be the former...
