Cherry Sheriff

W ith a modest view on life, Cherry Sheriff has sneaked up on us all, creating electronic beats cooler than a cryogenically-frozen dalek, and melodies that could make a heavyweight champion weep. For too long the electronic music scene has suffered from an outlaw element intent on enforcing fat boundaries between the chill out and dance scenes Well, the sheriff has arrived in sun-soaked electronic town to finally bring order.

Little Dipper

L ittle Dipper was born in 1997 in Lichfield, Staffordshire and is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Rob Allen. After many line up changes and experiments with sound, Rob decided to go it alone and become a solo artist. Now Little Dipper has found its own unique sound and place within music, with sonics and songs that cannot be categorised into one certain genre Live Little Dipper is Rob accompanied by an old Yamaha keyboard, guitars, drum machines and backing tracks that makes for an original live experience. Influences are cited as The Beatles, Nirvana, Pavement, Flaming Lips, Dismemberment Plan, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr, Travis Morrison, 12 Rods, Hum, The Doors, life, death, love, summer nights, winter mornings, jobs we hate, break ups, make ups and too many late nights. Rob is currently working on his as yet unnamed debut album, which should be finished by early autumn, which will help dissolve your summer comedowns.

hi you might want to update the gig listings for me as I now seem to have a very busy schedule for the next 3 months!Even a london visit is in there. Our beautiful capital. Where the streets are paved with shite/gold/cool haircuts. whichever way you look at it,nothing can deter from the fact that it still smells like chaffinch.

hello

I did a video for 'As long as it spans your own lifetime' cos I was bored. It's on me page innit. So now I can join the crunch artistes club.
I'm also working on the 'friendly people' video. It's hard work. I'm not even half way through, but I'm getting there. Had to sack the original idea off cos Hot Club De Paris have done it. But all the photos are still gonna be used.

Oooh while im here the Leeds gig has been postponed 'til 24th Feb now.

Redmojo 3 floors festival pre gig write up:

“Im not exaggerating when i say, if you are a musician in Warrington and follow local bands you will no doubt, at some time have met a member of Redmojo. They are, without question, one of the hardest working bands in town. Playing frequently across the North West, they provide a blues funk, rock sound that makes you forget it might be cold, raining and dark outside.

The melodies provided by front man Len are hard to forget and he has such a band of clued up musicians behind him - Pete Kenny (bass), Mike York (Guitar), Andy York (drums) and Matt Dolley (Keys). Redmojo create feel good music in the same vein as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Reef with a touch of The Charlatans.

With tunes that bring sunshine and keep your head nodding and your feet tapping, Redmojo are a force to be reckoned with.

After releasing several self funded/promoted EP's the band are currently working on tracks for forth coming album Dirty Soul.

Altered Ego and Redmojo are playing live this Saturday Dec 9th, at the 3 floors

Redmojo live review.

Redmojo
@ FU Bar, Padgate Campus, Warrington Collegiate Institute

Supported by: 13AMP
In a Student Bar, on a Monday night the patrons are eagerly watching a below par Middlesborough team desperately trying to eek their way back into the game against a Pearce propelled Man City. Suddenly, the bland commentary is interrupted the prominent jazz thrusting bass lines of Pete Kenny bear out of ‘Mind If I Cut In’ and local quintet, Redmojo have taken over. Lee Leonard’s vocals stroll along top of the patting percussion and wiry guitars, for a soul/jazz/indie introduction to Crunch Records’ greatest asset. If the opener slowly turned heads away from the soccer, then ‘Kaleidoscope Land’ with its Beck elements demonstrates tightness and adventure that Middlesborough would sell their red shirts for. This song is bound to form the crux of their forthcoming debut album (Dirty Soul) and makes full use of the homely acoustics.

The epic soundscapes concealed within ‘Suddenly Unexpected Man’, sets a Mogwai style atmosphere to build up to a crushing crescendo, with a nod and a wink towards The Super Furry Animals; ‘The Man Don’t Give A Fuck’. Appreciation of da blues gives ‘Debris’ its kick, causing some sullen looks of contemplation to appear on those gathered. The ranging set culminates in the band’s gritty answer to ‘I Am The Resurrection’ in the form of ‘Who Am I To You?’, with this marathon climax featuring every sound the Mojo’s have produced and Lenn’s vocals reach a punk pitch at points. Atmospheric rushes, free-spirited jamming and rhythm gushing interludes, ensure that Redmojo leave the stage having left a lingering impression.
