About TheCrux

theCrux is an all-ages, non-profit music venue dedicated to providing a safe, fun environment for all to enjoy live music.

theCrux exists to provide a place for touring artists to play in North East Missouri, to help foster growth and maturity in the local music scene, and to provide a safe place in Hannibal for youth to enjoy live music.
We are mainly open on weekends. We occasionally put on a weekday show for nationally touring bands. Do not message us asking to play a weekday date unless you are nationally recognized and on a record label. If you want to play theCrux, you must first fill out the application in our blog otherwise we will not respond.
We are located at 301 Warren Barrett Drive Hannibal MO. The new building is owned and operated by Hannibal Parks and Recreation. TheCrux is currently Sponsored by Hannibal Parks and Recreation. The building is the Admiral Coontz Armory. TheCrux is now more of an Organization than a building! We are back in business and will be having summer shows indoors and outdoors!

Tim Faulted (BBTC)	Apr 12 2009 2:37 PM Hey guys, I'm proud of the work you've done. You let Hannibal know the need of an all-ages music venue, and you've gotten it started back up. It was no easy feat, but you worked together and made it happen. But now is the time when we need you MOST. The Crux is a essentially a co-op, and runs on volunteers helping out. If you really care about the local music scene, ask yourself "What am I doing to help?" Perhaps you want to help, but you don't know where to start. I want to give you a few ideas on what to do. 1.Donate to the Yard Sale. We would eventually like the Crux to have its own building again (That means moshing!" and it takes a lot of money to make something like that happen. In two weeks the Crux will have a yard sale, and we need things to sell. This could be an old CD you don't listen to anymore, clothes you've outgrown, home grown tomatoes, ANYTHING! We just need your help. Send a message to the Crux myspace if you have something to offer. 2.Volunteer at a show. This is VITAL. We need people helping at EVERY show. Music at the Mall in Keokuk just closed because it was the same people always running everything, and they got burnt out. This doesn't have to be every show, but get in there and help. 3.Go to shows and PROMOTE! We need numbers in the door to keep paying bands. When bands are taken care of they keep coming back and we develop a good music scene. 4. Start a band The lack of local music will suffocate any growth seen in the local music scene. We always need bands to open. These bands must be good musicians, have the ability to draw a crowd, and have at least 25 minutes or original material. God Bless, you guys are doing a great job, and I look forward to coming to another show.
