Born and raised a farm girl from Northwest Ohio, Crystal Bowersox spread her country roots into the big city pavement of Chicago, known for it's rich history of Blues and Jazz. When two worlds collide, a heartfelt-folk, yet gritty blues and soul sound emerged. At the age of 10, Crystal played her first guitar, performed her first live show, and hasn't been able to put it down or escape the gravity of the stage ever since. With her strong songwriting ability, guitar skills and vocal precision, Crystal Bowersox is a moment not to be missed. Her songs are lyrically rich, musically layered with a hint of old-school soul, and filled to the brim with her personal stories of triumph, devastation, and true passion. During her live performances, it has been said that the spirit of Janis Joplin channels her way through Crystal's little frame, capturing the essence of her passionate performances. Crystal Bowersox has performed internationally: Birmingham, UK; Istanbul, Turkey; Oxaca, Mexico; Memphis, TN, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, and Toledo, OH. With the birth of her beautiful Son, Crystal has pulled her country roots up and out of the big city black top. She’s back to the old stomping grounds of Toledo, Ohio, hard at work recording her next album, and enjoying every second of her new life as MamaSox.
Crystal Bowersox is currently working with Frank May (27) of Toledo, Ohio. Frank is Toledo's most sought after Bass guitar Player and has opened for acts such as Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent, and many others. Not only can the man play the shit out of his crazy 6 string bass, he has an extraordinary voice.
"She has an acoustic folk style of playing with an R&B soul. The vocals of a Jazz artist. Gritty, Hopping, and blue. She has a voice that grabs at your lower waist and pulls your stomach up with all that feeling. All those butterflies pushing upward into your chest. Bordering your throat. Stopping on that fine line.
Listening to Crystal play is like seeing the perfect blossom. She is both beautiful and pure with what she does. She has the skills any disciplined guitar player must possess along with the vocals many singers can only wish they had. Rhythm is her thing and she just flows on stage. She goes from sexy to cool and hits up sassy and blue on the way. She simply does what she do. Naturally and effortlessly.
She does it all. Plays guitar, piano, percussion and sings. This about five foot five bundle of visual hippiness brings many weapons to the table. Don't think that a change of plans or pace is going to slow this girl down. She'll deliver punch after ear pounding punch. She will erupt with class, style, and passion right there on the scene."

What People are saying:
"There are not many things in the world that warm my heart enough to produce a genuine loving smile, but Crystal Bowersox's voice does that. I met her while she was performing at a train station. Her voice stopped me and I missed the train in order to talk to her. I asked her if she would perform at a silent auction I was having in trade for some photographs (I had no money but I had my talent), she agreed. Her voice blew away my guests. I have an arrangement that she'll sing at my shows if I keep taking her picture, I'm holding onto that as long as I can!" - Nicky Watts Studios, www.Nickywatts.com
Hey Friend!!! ThankYou for the friendship add!!!
Much appreciated. 'Family Business' is a band site of me and my sons
and the music we write, play, and record. We really have a blast doing
it. I also have a couple of friends that are involved too. Imagine
sitting around a campfire out at the lake, watching the moon rise and
picking a few tunes. Maybe you can see what I mean about how much fun
it is. Check us out. Thanks again, Steve
It went quite well. We're all settled in. You should definitely come up for a visit once I find a job. Which hopefully won't take long, I'm basically dedicating my life to it at the moment. And it doesn't hurt that grand rapids has the lowest unemployment rate in Michigan.
