A little Ministry, a little Twiztid, a little Primus, and some other dark and demented cacophony. If Hell had a soundtrack conducted by Trent Reznor that was re-mixed by Flavor Flav, it might sound like this...a little.
Out of the ashes of a Cincinnati Tri-State Heavy Metal band, going by the name of Golgotha, arose an Industrial revolution which became known as Crystmynd. As he saw that Golgotha was beginning to crumble, Jerry W. Roark, JR(or, as he later became known, Scary Jerry) began to put together an Industrial, Garage, Punk, and Hardcore Rap influenced side-project. Born in 1994 as a result of the experiments of several musicians headed by one Scary Jerry, the brainchild that was Crystmynd became a device of vision.
After its first year of existence, fellow-former member of Golgotha, guitarist Steve Burris joined the band, and Crystmynd became more machine than man as technology replaced all human constituents aside from its engineers, Scary Jerry and Steve Burris. These two men set out to create a new soundtrack for a world where music, art, science, and religion all merged into one vision.
The name, itself, has a deep spiritual meaning. It, broken in parts, says Cryst(or Christ) crys(or cries) in my mynd(or mind). It is a reference to the pain and suffering of being crucified and how that pain and suffering is ever-present in the mind and music of Crystmynd. Bringing great offense to all those with limited depth of thought, Crystmynd presented to the world a myriad of sounds and images underlined with a message for those with ears to hear.
After four years since their last release, the five song EP "A Glimpse Into The Mynd", Crystmynd surfaced once again, with the addition of female vocalist Judy Burris, from the catacombs of Scary Entertainment to bring a more direct and much more aggressive vision to another epoch of entertainment with their newest offering "The Effect".
Unfortunately, fate was not to see the trio put the album into production. Steve and Judy left the band to make their own music shortly before the first show of the year and the distribution of "The Effect" sampler CD's and release of the new album.
The saga does not end here. Scary Jerry had already foreseen the coming end(as he did with Golgotha) and already had plans being made in the background. A brand new age is dawning for Crystmynd, and all will be revealed in good time.
